🇺🇸 English Expressions: Under the Weather 🌧️
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “under the weather.” 👉 It means feeling sick, unwell, or a bit off physically or mentally. You use it when you’re not feeling your best. Origin: This phrase comes from sailing terminology in the 19th century. Sailors who were feeling seasick were sent below deck — literally under the weather — to recover. Over time, the phrase entered everyday English to mean feeling ill. ⛵ Examples: • I’m feeling a bit under the weather today, so I’ll stay home. 🤒 • She’s under the weather, but hopes to come to work tomorrow. 🌡️ • Don’t worry if he seems quiet — he’s just under the weather. 😷 Now it’s your turn! 💬 Drop your own sentence using “under the weather” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 🤝 English Expressions page in the Classroom 👉https://www.skool.com/lme/classroom/c7105c70?md=a0522a36e24d4286a880b2f958b8f1ea

🇺🇸 English Expressions: Go-Getter! 💪
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “go-getter.” 👉 An aggressively enterprising person — someone who is highly energetic, ambitious, and always going after what they want. Origin: The term “go-getter” came into American English in the early 1900s (around 1901–1910). It’s formed from the verb “go,” the verb “get,” and the agent suffix “-er,” literally meaning someone who goes and gets what they want. It likely evolved from motivational phrases like “Go get ’em!”, capturing a bold, forward-moving, take-action spirit. 💪 Examples: • He’s a real go-getter — always starting new projects. 💼 • They hired him because he’s such a go-getter. ✅ • If you want to succeed here, you have to be a go-getter. 🎯 Now it’s your turn! 💬 Drop your own sentence using “go-getter” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 🤝 English Expressions page in the Classroom 👉https://www.skool.com/lme/classroom/c7105c70?md=a0522a36e24d4286a880b2f958b8f1ea

@Serge Gray Russia is way up north from China. So it makes sense that Moscow, being closer to the Arctic, gets a lot more snow. That‘s why “Still No Snow”❄️ does seem odd for December!
