Emojis in Contemporary Novels?
I'm new to writing contemporary books, so here's hoping this isn't a horribly naive question. Does anyone know if using emojis is acceptable or even legal? They would specifically be used in text messages between the characters, who are in their early to mid twenties. It's a romance, so it's a bit flirty and lighthearted, so tonally it would be appropriate. Researching online suggests that it's legal but can risk dating the book, which is a valid concern, but I'm more worried about keeping in line with other books and not getting sued.

Enemies to lovers, captor/captive romance, only one bed, mermaid/human romance, sapphic romance, ice queen, butch/femme, high fantasy, etc I'm not sure if I'll have time to make a reel, but I'll update later if I do.

@Judy Bishop I love much of this! I think the middle image is my favorite. My nitpick with the first one is the repetition of the word haunt/haunting. I wonder if that could be reworded a bit? The impact is good, but I think the execution could be a bit stronger.
Share your reader love <3
I just got an email that opened with this line: "I am not sure if shouldΒ address you as Ms. Cooper, Malorie or Science Fiction Goddess, I think the latter would suffice the best though." and it totally made my day. What emails have you received recently (or not so recent if there are some older ones that you want to share)?

Pretty stoked actually 😎
Ad Image Feedback
I have two of four series doing okay with ads now, but I wanted to get a third going. This series has never really caught on. It’s urban/military fantasy in a post apocalyptic setting, kind of similar to Kate Daniels. It’s a buddy story between two strong female protagonists. Which ad image do you think would resonate with readers, the one with the banner and review quote, or the plain ones? I never can tell.

I also love the covers on the side. I'm most drawn to the first image. I personally prefer without the words. The picture conveys the genre even better than the quote.
