Thank Y'all for having fun with me here! ✨It's been awesome!✨
Hi everyone, I've decided to close this Skool community on June 30th That should give y’all time to finish any courses you’ve been working on in the “classroom” tab and make connections with the folks you want to keep in contact with. This group has been super fun, but I need to simplify my workflow. I have been pulled in too many directions between my day-job, side gigs, volunteer work and keeping up with publishing videos to YouTube, Tiktok, Rednote, Instagram and facebook (You can find me on all those platforms as @thatweirdplantlady) If you want to stay in touch and keep getting foraging tips, plant IDs, and updates on my next book, you can join my email list here: https://forms.gle/tPNGbbLHmeRtpCHH9 That's where I'll be sharing my best content going forward - no spam, just plant & fungi fun in a monthly or bimonthly newsletter. Thank you for being here. Hope to see you on the list. - Melanie 😁👍🌱✨

What would you start?
If you knew you were about to have a lot more land to plant stuff what would you plant? What would you start winter sowing now?

Foraging for rocks by the lake
A few days ago I wasn't feeling too great. Something that I've found works for me to help get myself out of a slump is going for a drive. This drive started like any other, but we decided to go to the lake to see if we could find a place to park and watch the waves. Once we did, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to collect some rocks!! I collected quite a few but this one is one of my favorites. I think it might be dalmatian jasper but I could be very wrong. It has a ton of shiny flakes in it though, and whatever it is, I love it!

@Hannah Messer I'm not supposed to get my feet too cold because of a chronic illness, but once the water warms up I will definitely be getting my feet wet!!

Medicine for Depression 🌱
This week I've been feeling very down in the dumps. I've got my reasons, my obstacles and my real life stresses but I also know that feeling bad doesn't help me overcome those obstacles. So, today I took the day to be outside doing yard work. There were 1000 more "important" tasks I could have done... should have done even. But making the time to be outside and doing physical work for a while is what I needed...not what I wanted to do...not what I felt like doing but what I needed to do. It was uncomfortable, hard work. It was cold and wet outside. I was digging up old rusted fencing that was buried in the ground and tangled in vines. I worked on building garden beds and trimming trees. And now I'm exhausted and nothing else on my "to do" list got done...but, I feel a whole lot better. Don't underestimate the power of time to yourself, fresh air, manual labor and sunshine - even if that sun is filtered through the dull, gray clouds of winter.🥰👍🌱

I've had depression since I was in 6th grade and since I got out of highscool I've been incredibly inactive because I'm disabled and don't often walk without pain. I've been on medications, I've done dbt and therapy and cognitive tests, but there's nothing like getting outside and seeing what nature has to offer for the day. I haven't been able to get out lately because the Cold weather effects my chronic pain, but in the spring, summer and fall I love to go around looking for random things❤️❤️
Yarrow!
I harvested seeds for our current challenge and plant material for our upcoming Making Medicine challenge from the yarrow I transferred from a roadside into my garden this past spring. Double win!😁👍🌱

I love using dried yarrow in simmer pots and spells!! It's great for protection, love and it's also really potent in divination. Unfortunately I'm almost out 😭😭
