Chael after one week of Board and Train
Here's a video of Chael staying at his "place" when someone arrived at our door earlier today. Typically, he'd be barking and would need to be restrained. Awesome progress for him after his first week. The second and third video are of Chael on his walk. It was less great. Part of the difficulty was likely due to the fact the the collar wasn't on tight enough. Also, the remote wasn't even on initially. Oops! Additionally, I was using a leash that goes over my shoulder and Chael maybe needed more leash to work with (it was difficult operating the camera, remote and leash at the same time). The walk got better when I put the camera away and held the leash in my hand (rather than over shoulder). Auto-down was almost non-existant. This is obviously still a work in progress. Let me know if I'm doing it wrong.

Looking good Chael!! For his auto downs, it can be common for some dogs to go home and push back on the new expectations. So ensure you’re always following through with him using the e-collar (and leash pressure if needed) to help him realize rules at school also follow home! You can also use that rapid fire technique I showed you on Friday to help him get into the groove quicker 😊 You guys got this!

Dog reactivity
Working on dog reactivity today. 1st dog we ran into was one he recognizes, small , barking. He tried pulling g toward him we were actually in the other side of a wire fence. Cranked the receiver and pushed. High enough that he yelped. Still tried again for round 2, as the dog was focused on him Did a repeat He acted totally different then in class. Dog 2, Tanner zeroed in on him right away as he was walking on the sidewalk ahead of us , about 20 /25 feet. Did the same repeat, same results, yelp and very reactive to the charge but autoed down Happy to say that his under was perfect , and we practiced auto down , with 3 promoters He did great after with a repeat of 5 more autos. Had him auto down at end of hallway, there happened to be a dog in the condo behind is inside- dog sractched at door and whined, Tanner turned but I corrected him and placed him in an auto down, and held it for 3 min. Try sewi g what happens with the dog situation on Sun

Hey Shannon! I’m so glad to hear his obedience is helping overall! For his reactivity, if Tanner is fully reacting (lunging, barking, clearly over threshold), that’s when you can increase the stim and hold the button continuously until he settles before releasing. A quick tap sometimes isn’t enough in those bigger moments, which can lead to him re-engaging. If he’s just fixating but hasn’t escalated, you can correct at his usual working level (typically around a 3–4), as long as he’s responding. Also, don’t feel discouraged if he’s acting a bit different at home than he did during training — that’s completely normal. He’s had more time practicing certain habits there. Stay consistent like you’ve been, and with more exposure (especially as the weather lightens up and you’re able to work around more dogs), this will continue to improve. I’m excited to hopefully see you both in a group class soon to keep building on this!
Auto tdown like a champion
Wow, what a difference in 1 day. Tanner is auto down probably 90 % with no prompting. If there is a distraction- human- a quick tap gets his attention. He is such a good boy 😊❤

Love to hear this! Considering your other posts, this is a perfect example of consistency paying off! Keep it up you two!
