Reminding myself that I want this
Hey all! Hope things are going well for everyone. Showing face since I need to tackle being solitary. I fell behind pretty hard, but I had to talk with myself sternly since after two weeks back at work I can feel the old situations and frustrations creeping in again. I want to get through this process and really change for good. So even though it’s Sunday and there’s a lot to catch up on, I’m proud of myself for finally completing the Reflection workbook. The questions are hard and I drew a lot of blanks, but the Antigoals framing really helped, and so did remembering that discomfort is a positive signal. I can’t imagine what I’d feeling if I’d never done it at all. Cheers guys!

@Jim Ebbelaar thanks Jim. Also made sure all the events are in my calendar now! Thursday timings are not a perfect fit right now but I won’t be missing any Tuesday sessions!

I have experience with Creative Strategy, Copywriting, Performance Creative Analytics, and multi-lingual ad campaign production & management. I'm also a trained contemporary musician (electric bass) with several years of music and audio production experience in person and remotely. Suspected for a few years but officially diagnosed with ADHD in May this year! @Marion Steed thank you for the kind words. Agreed Funk/Soul is so rich!!! I used to have a Funk-Rock project in London (shocker we gigged a bunch but no releases) in which tried to blend a bit of Jamiroquai, RHCP and Rage Against The Machine at times if you can believe it 😅. This was about a decade ago now. Whereabouts did you play with your band? Do you still perform?
Naming & Shaming my self sabotage
So the 5 day challenge totally passed me by. I _did_ get the emails, I _did_ set reminders but didn’t properly plan for it. Ofc I had all the best intentions in the world, but I didn’t even have Skool on my phone to help even try to succeed 😅 Fixed!! I will taking part in the 6 week programme. I have zero intention of letting this chance me by. I have plodded on and had grander aspirations this time last year amidst a load of burnout. I am writing this to state at least to myself for the first time in a public space that I need help. I succeed in groups, if I’m present. It charges me like nothing else. Forgive what is becoming a wall of text, I’m just done with doing things the same way. I’m stoked, see you guys in there ❤️

@Jim Ebbelaar, the number of courses I’ve done where the token accountability leaves you behind, or the absolute lack of it leaves you feeling rough and crushed is too high. Your decision to personally involve yourself is the reason I’m ignoring the voice in my head that this will be the same and is just another grab. I’m trying to lower my lofty and dreamy expectations (raised by excitement), and am ready to get to the Root of it all.

@Marion Steed @Marion Steed thanks, I appreciate it! I definitely made a point of stopping myself from writing much more 😅. Yeah the burnout has been a bit rough to grapple with, especially with some stretches of me straight up pretending to myself that I wasn’t. I’ve been trying to let go of some things that I do that I feel I have to in order to prove some kind of worthiness that contribute to it, but it’s been slow progress! What is Creative Strategy? weeeeelll, it can vary a lot but at the agency I work at, I get a warm up period to research a brand/product and prepare the creative plan for an advertising campaigns, specifically on social media platforms. I write and propose messaging angles, scripts and headlines to run and decide what formats to produce them in. User Generated content (UGC) is the bulk of what we produce. I don’t manage the actual advertising campaigns themselves but I do analyse performance data to help inform the following round of ad production. I don’t enjoy all of it, especially the admin heavy stuff, but the creative side can be really fun!

@Andrea Schnadelbach totally agree about knowing ourselves better. I was pretty sure of my diagnosis but was also questioning myself all the time because I’d been told “nothings wrong with you”, “you just need to pay more attention”, etc. so getting an official diagnosis was the first time I was able to let go of some of that tension and negative self-talk. I wasn’t prepared for how much it was going to affect how I felt!

Hey @Michal Olak I’ve never been to Arizona but I know there’s great hiking to be had there! Have you ever visited the UK for camping/hiking? The Lake District is ridiculously green - was able to visit again this year with my dad’s family. I forgot to take any mountaintop snaps! Would love to see any hiking pics you’re willing to share. Cheers :)
