@Leeanne Hurren When my son was younger, he didn’t want to go to summer camp. The year before we had put him in an academic camp by mistake, and he was still pretty mad at us for that. So instead of sending him somewhere, I stayed home with the baby and built our own “summer camp” for the kids. Each day had a theme — Wet Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, Friend Friday — just something fun to keep them active and creative. One of the things I told him was that we needed to stay productive. So one day, we went out in front of our house in Cambridge, MA, and he handed out 20 meals to people on the streets. When he came back in, he asked if he could do it again. I asked him why. He said, “Because everyone out there was so kind. I can’t believe how happy it made them.” That moment turned into something much bigger. He kept going. And over the years, with our family helping, he ended up giving out more than 30,000 meals to people in our community. He graduated high school last year and is off at college now, but what he built left a real mark. You’re welcome to Google Liam’s Lunches of Love to learn more. I don't think people realize how painful isolation can be until they experience it. Isolation not by choice is so very hard sometimes. It is very important to find those people that you can be around worth love and avoid the ones that you have to beg to be there for you.
