What to look for when starting as an apprentice?
Hoping all is well , I need to do a PSA for all barbers looking into an apprenticeship on the big island. Do your research, look into your mentors history , look at their success rate. Im watching too many people get burned when it comes to getting their hours logged and reported . Advocate for yourself , ask questions if they get defensive, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY Everything should be transparent when it comes to any apprenticeship GO to the DCCA website for any and ALL information Stay safe Stay healthy Stay gracious Barberina's 🤙🏾
🔁 What Do You Wish You Knew Earlier in Your Career? 💈
Aloha Barbers — let’s take it back for a second. 🌺We’ve all got that one thing we wish we understood sooner. Maybe it was how to price your value. Maybe it was building confidence behind the chair. Or maybe it was realizing you’re not just a barber—you’re a brand and a business. The truth is, we grow the most when we reflect. And sharing those early lessons? 💰 How Are You Tracking Your Barbering Income? Let’s Talk Systems 📊
Aloha Barbers — let’s get into the business side of the chair. 🤙🏽✂️You’re grinding all week, stacking cuts, and filling your schedule… but here’s the real question: Do you know exactly how much you’re making? And more importantly, where it’s coming from, where it’s going, and how to grow it? Whether you're just starting out or deep into the game, tracking your income is key to scaling up, saving smart, and staying in control of your career. Some barbers use apps. Some use spreadsheets. Others go old-school with a notebook. There’s no one “right” way — but doing nothing? That’s not the move. 💬 So let’s open up the conversation: - What system or method are you using to track your income right now? - Do you separate cash from digital payments? - Are you tracking daily, weekly, or monthly? Drop your approach (or questions!) in the comments. This is how we grow together — by learning what’s working and sharing tools that help each other level up. 📈🔥 #AlohaBarberCollective #BarberMoneyMoves #TrackYourBag

Old school Paperbooking allows me to record my daily revenue easily. I have separate envelopes for each store I get supplies from and keep receipts accordingly making it easy to track my expenses and even easier come time for my taxes. I know you can scan it into your phone and all that techy stuff but I'm still adjusting ,til I can transition to that smoothly I'll continue my method. I also Started creating customer profile cards recording last visit, services acquired and price paid , so I can always reference back .
🧠 The Barber’s Mindset for Success — Build More Than Just Skills 💈
Aloha Barbers — let’s talk mindset. 🤙🏽Success in this game isn’t just about how sharp your fade is or how clean your line-ups are… It’s about what’s going on upstairs — your habits, your discipline, your vision. The most successful barbers don’t just cut hair — they show up with purpose. They plan their days. They manage their energy. They keep their word to themselves, even when no one’s watching. And they see the long game. 💡 Want a fulfilling, long-lasting career behind the chair? Start thinking like a CEO, not just a service provider. Here’s how to shift into the Barber’s Mindset for Success: - Show up on time. Every time. - Build structure into your week (marketing, follow-ups, skill sharpening). - Protect your peace — mental health is wealth. - Never stop learning — new techniques, better systems, stronger branding. - See yourself as a brand, not just a barber. 💬 Drop ONE mindset shift or habit you’re committing to this week that’s going to level you up. Let’s hold each other accountable, grow together, and keep building the life behind the craft. 🔥 #AlohaBarberCollective #BarberMindset #GrowthBehindTheChair

🎯 What Do You Wish You Knew Earlier in Your Barber Journey? 💈
Aloha Barbers — let’s get real for a second. 🤙🏽 We all started somewhere… Maybe it was your first shaky fade, your first no-show, or the first time you questioned if this path was really for you. But looking back now, what’s one thing you wish you knew earlier in your career that would’ve made the road smoother, your growth faster, or your mindset stronger? Was it about business? Boundaries? Branding? Was it how to build clientele, price your value, or show up confidently behind the chair? Sharing your lessons can be the exact thing another barber in this community needs to hear today — and it’s also a powerful way to reflect on how far you’ve come. 💬 Drop yours in the comments. Let’s learn from each other, level up together, and make sure the next wave of barbers rises even stronger. #AlohaBarberCollective #LessonsInTheFade #BarberGrowth
