Bristol Meet-Up!
We are meeting up in Bristol on Saturday January 10th at 11am! Here's the plan. We'll meet initially at Ashton Court Church Lodge Car Park. As there will be some reactive dogs in-tow we'll do an on-lead walk for around 25 - 30 minutes and then we'll head down to the The Ashton pub which is just around the corner for post-walk drinks. The pub is dog-friendly but I'll leave it to your judgement as to whether you bring them in or leave them to rest in your vehicle. This is free and is open to everyone - even lurkers! Just let us know if you're coming πŸ‘‡

Day 127: Unexpected Distractions in the Rain β›ˆοΈ
Today has been a miserable day in Bristol. It has rained for most of the day. I resisted taking the dogs out for ages but around 4pm they had had enough. I headed out and found the training field to be incredibly saturated! But, what choice do you have. I started with some heelwork with Lupe. Mixing in some down stay, middle and 'around' trees to keep it interesting. It went well, I seemed to manage to keep the tempo high without feeling like I was doing a cardio workout today. The heeling was better. The head position has hugely improved in the last week or so. However I think the blame for any confusion entirely lays on me, not him. I have the heeling down with Onyx so I don't have to work for it (although believe me it was work to get to this point). With Lupe I feel like I'm kinda figuring him out, almost like learning to drive a new car... you know HOW to drive, but it still feels a little foreign and not entirely comfortable yet. I got Onyx out for a play and did some off-lead pet heeling with her too. Just after I'd thrown a ball in one direction someone emerged around the corner close to the ball with a Pointer on-lead. She paused and stared at it, then recalled away. That was a big moment for me because you have to understand in the last year or so I got into neutrality and all of the off-leash control stuff I'm teaching you guys in the Core 66 as I was learning how to 'unfuck' the mistakes I'd made with her. I would have really struggled to cope with that scenario before. It was a nice reminder of how far we've come. πŸ™
