If this week hasn't gone your way (read this)
“Craig, what do you do when you mess up royally? I had a situation blow up in my face today.” If you’ve had a similarly tough day or week as my friend above… I want to share my following answer with you too: First, understand that everything will be okay. We all mess up… And we can turn things around. Second, you need an anchor routine so you can mentally get back on track. You need actions that get your mind right. For me, I remind myself of how others view me. It’s kind of like the old saying "Be the person your dog thinks you are". (Always a helpful reminder of how others view you!) In this case, be the person your team and clients and followers think you are… They would expect you to persist, stay strong, and remain optimistic. So you must. Your "Back on track" routine can also feature music (pump up songs) and looking at past triumphs or client testimonials. Third, I keep a Stoic mindset. This reminds me things are never as bad as you think, nor as good as you think. Never get too high, never get too low. Momento mori Fourth, breathe. Four seconds in, eight second hold, seven seconds out. Repeat for a couple of minutes. Fifth and finally, get outside and away from your computer. Go out into the real world. Take a walk. Relax in nature that is thousands of years old… the world will go on. Look at people … real people (not Internet people)… and realize they are all walking around with their own problems and don’t think your problem is a big deal. And that’s because it probably is not. This mental break will help you get renewed to get back to solving your problems. Stay strong and push on. I know you will prevail. Success Loves Speed, Craig Ballantyne
