Introducing: Fabric Capacity Cost Estimator (Public Preview)
It's here!!! The Public Preview of the Fabric Capacity Cost Estimator... 👉🔗 Try it here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-fabric/capacity-estimator This is something that everyone asks, when they are assessing the potential costs of implementing Fabric. To be honest it's almost impossible to get an accurate answer, because it depends on so many variables, but hopefully with this new tool, you can get a very rough ballpark figure, quickly. Give it a go, and let me know your thoughts!

AI skill pySpark workflows seem to chew up CUs at scale. Not sure how well the calculator can factor in these workloads
Lost in Pricing
I'm consulting for a small company that wants to move to Fabric. I am NOT a Fabric designer - it's why I'm here, to learn as much as I can. I need to write a proposal that includes cost estimates before I begin work. After a bunch of searching, a couple of AI chats, and a chat with a MS sales rep, I can't get a clear answer. "F64" pops up often but only because it's the size of the trial solution. I have a couple of small Synaptics DBs that I want to mirror in OneLake, join a few tables, add some columns, create a few Power BI dashboards that are filtered based on login & role (RLS), then embed the dashboards in a customer-facing web app, backed by Microsoft Entra ID. I didn't think this required so much brain damage to get a cost estimate. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks for any assistance!

The challenge is staying below a threshold where Fabric will start to throttle the tenant. As you may know, background operations get smoothed over the next 24hrs after they complete. Add on top of this the interactive operations. So IMHO this becomes a whack-a-mole game. Fabric is susceptible to the Noisy Neighbor problem - it keeps admins on their toes

Any way to prevent Lakehouse Files section deletion?
I was a little shocked to see how easy it is to delete files from a Lakehouse. There was no “Are you sure?” Or “type this sentence”. Once deleted, is it a soft delete? What approaches are you taking to ensure you are protected from accidental deletion (programmatically or by a human user)? For example I am planning to store audit logs from the Tenant and I believe Microsoft has a 30 day cutoff.

I’ll check the Fabric ideas and create one

Thank you @Florencia Amaya - would I be looking at pySpark documentation to learn more about metadata? Any pointers?
What is the best practice for multiple devs working on a semantic model?
Imagine a team with 2-3 devs who need to work on the same semantic model and don’t want to move to using .pbip and git? One approach is for the dev to download the PBIX file from the service. Another is to checkout the PBIX from SharePoint, make changes and publish and n check in changes. Any other approaches that don’t break lineage or create new dataset ids?

That’s what I do, Antony. Some other teams reported that when the second dev publishes the semantic model with the exact same name it breaks their lineage apparently by having a different semantic model / dataset id. Wondering if you have encountered anything like this?

@Antony Catella yes that’s how I have been recommending people do it. The alternative is to download the PBIX from the service, make changes and test and then publish back to the service and check in in SharePoint.
Grouping workspaces ?
Hi Team, Does anybody know if it possible to group workspace in de workspace overview in de fabric portal ? (I know you can pin workspace but I want to group all those workspaces for a better overview ) We are large organisatie so we have a lot of workspaces.

@Oscar Van zelst - we need the concept of a project or product in Fabric where teams can associate workspaces across deployment pipeline stages and content with a GUID that shows up in the Scanner API output. This will really help teams to organize their content, navigate quickly and help their customers find content.
