Operation Blackout Intro Scene
I’ve been practising level design & building out a level for Operation Blackout, a tactical stealth-adventure. Showcasing the crash site intro - where player wake up disoriented, alone, and begin piecing together what went wrong. I’d be glad to hear any feedback or perspectives?

@Matthew Graham-Gaisie Hey Matthew! It’s awesome to have you here. It sounds like you’ve already built a great foundation in combat design and coding. That combo of creativity and technical skill is a strong one. Many of us can relate to the confidence and networking challenges, especially as introverts, but just by sharing your story here, you’re already moving in the right direction. Keep experimenting with your systems, share your progress, and don’t be afraid to gather *feedback* — even small prototypes can spark great discussions. If you’re ever interested in working on small collaborative projects or game jams, I’m sure plenty of folks here (myself included) would love to connect. It’s a great way to learn, gain confidence, and have fun building something together. Looking forward to seeing what you create :D keep in touch

For me it’s definitely GTA 6. I’ve been waiting years for it and I’m buzzing to finally see what Rockstar does next🤩

@Conor Kirkby Yeah for sure, it’s looking class so far.
What should a Junior be earning?
This is a bit of a weird question because its very subjective to the state of the industry and localised to a company. However I see a good few jobs here and there offering 40k plus (sometimes for juniors) for mid ranged talent. I know there isnt much money in games compared to the normal software engineering side of things where I am looking but seeing a junior/graduate jobs going for 80k+ which feels fake to me as a working class person 🤣. I was told to accept minimum wage for a junior position (Which is approx 24/25k in the UK) and be happy with it. So im just curious what everyone else thinks. I see a lot of companies ask for what your desired annual income is in their application and I almost always put 24k. Is this shooting myself in the foot with unconfidence? I always thought less money = better chance of being hired because companies dont like spending money.

Junior pay in UK tech varies a lot, but £24–25k is definitely the bottom end, not the standard for a skilled worker. Plenty of junior roles sit around £28–35k, and the £50–80k graduate salaries you see are usually from finance, big tech, though those are competitive and not the norm. IMO - Companies don’t usually pick the cheapest candidate, they pick the one who seems confident and capable. If you price yourself too low, it can signal inexperience or lack of confidence rather than being “easier to hire”. A safer approach is to put something like “market rate for a junior role” or £28–32k, depending on the job. You’re not demanding the moon, but you’re also not undervaluing yourself.

Just finished reading the script and saw Bailey’s post about bringing Callum to life. It’s incredibly touching and beautifully done @Bailey Anischenko . Moments like this remind me how powerful storytelling can be, and I truly appreciate the heart and effort that went into it @Emily Hagenbaugh
