I'm so honored to be included in your list of our California folks here. I was a reluctant Californian originally from Canada. I moved here when I was 10 and found it difficult to fit in at that age. The kids are/were so insecure and in their established friend circles at that age, that being different was a sure fire way to be excluded rather than included. Over time and getting older I found acceptance and grew to love California more and more. While i had every intention of going back to Canada because of how rough I had it trying to fit in, when the time came that I was old enough and could make that decision, I felt I had better access to opportunities here. So I embraced being a Californian who is still proudly Canadian as well. As someone who used annual passes at Disneyland to teach myself photography, I love to share the beauty of California, both in and out of the theme parks because it truly is a special place. As the Mamas and the Papas made famous, there is something about that California Dreamin'. As much as I like the original, I tend to lean more towards the cover version by Freischwimmer. The funny part is I did discover it because it gets put into the park music loop in Disney California Adventure during the Food & Wine festivals.
