Feedback about the app for reflection and self-agency
Hello everyone, especially those navigating complexity and uncertainty in their work. Could I ask your feedback? I’m building a very early version of a small app called GoBack: https://www.gobackapp.com It’s designed for people who juggle multiple threads of work and sometimes feel unsure what to focus on next. In a way, it’s an experiment in supporting self-agency: helping translate reflection into action without overwhelm. The idea is simple: β†’ return β†’ remember where you left off β†’ take one small step forward If you try it for 3–5 minutes, I’d really value your thoughts: β€’ What felt helpful? β€’ What felt unclear? β€’ What felt missing? β€’ Does it support you in moving from reflection to action? Thank you πŸ™

@Nadene Canning Hey Nadene thanks for checking it out! Yes, in a way, it keeps a light timeline inside each thread. But the intention isn’t to create another system to maintain. It’s more like a minimal log of small completed steps, so that when you return (especially after a few days or weeks), you don’t have to reconstruct context in your head. The idea is not β€œupdate constantly,” but rather: when you take a small meaningful step, you log it. Over time, it becomes a continuity memory, not a task manager. I’m curious, would something like that feel supportive or like extra overhead for you?

@Elizabeth Minotti @Elizabeth Minotti thank you, really appreciate your feedback πŸ™ The idea is to show only the last 3 steps by default, so you immediately see what you did most recently without being overwhelmed. Older entries are still there, but the focus is on recent context to support the next decision. I'm curious, what felt most confusing to you, is this the idea that the app saves completed steps vs planned tasks, or something else?
Soul and inner compass
β€œThis was a too big stretch for my soul” said the guy I met at the IDG mingling evening. He was speaking about his former company which was purely Business oriented. Now he is in a purpose-driven company. I thought that it was a nice way to express his inner compass voice. What about you? How do you describe or feel your inner compass?

love the prompt for inquiry, thanks @Annick Wagner ! "How do you describe or feel your inner compass?" you ask. to me, it's always the micro universe in my gut flipping :D and as of a true fact, what true universes of bacteria are living inside our gut microbiome!
What does it mean to be/become human today?
Hi all, I'm Jie, a philosophy graduate currently pursuing a PhD in Learning Sciences focused on ethics & sustainability education in Switzerland. Our understanding of the world shapes our emotional landscapes and ethical considerations. In a time marked by pluricrisis, harnessing this understanding becomes even more critical. I've been exploring how we can better accompany and educate our youth to navigate and engage with these complex times. What does it mean to be, or to become, human for our youth today? Navigating between Western and non-Western perspectives in ethics (including my cultural heritage in Asian philosophy), I conduct design research that aims to both understand and facilitate capabilities development that might contribute to planetary flourishing. I'm eager to connect with IDG practitioners who are interested in these themes. Glad to be here and meet some of you soon!

love your questions @Jie Gao ! on the side to your question ("What does it mean to be, or to become, human for our youth today?") I'd like to propose asking an additional question "What does it mean for you (humans) to become and act like nature that we are?" The seeds of this question come from the regeneration movement (if I can call it a movement, I think it is!). I have been following it since 2020 and the main takeway was - as long as humans draw a line between themselves and nature, we will never care to take necessary action towards sustainability ... thoughts? :)
A first-person approach to sustainability (philosophy in action)
Dear all, I have been part of the IDG GPN group for more than one year now, thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself in this new context! - I am a Focusing Trainer based in Rome, Italy, Focusing being a method of personal growth developed by the philosopher Eugene T. Gendlin and often compared to Mindfulness, - I have developed a "transformational learning program" in the ecological crisis called "Miniatures of evolution": as I am prototyping it and I offer it free of charge in exchange for pre- and post- course surveys I would love to see colleagues joining me for the next cohort, presumably starting in November (program in English and Italian is to be found at the link https://naturalmentesocialmentefocusing.blogspot.com/2024/07/miniatures-of-evolution-course.html) - In the web site for the IDG summit online I have uploaded a proposal for a 90 minutes workshop using the "Interactive Focusing Format" to carry on "difficult" conversations on climate change. Those who have access to the web site for the IDG summit can find my proposal in the "Collaborative garden" section using the filter "dyadic storytelling". - I like to walk the talk of sustainability by keeping my carbon footprint very low, and I show what this means for me in the YouTube video coming from my course (first cohort)Β Β https://youtu.be/vXXmMcx74jE. - I am looking forward to listen and to build trust, especially because in writing my personal theory of evolution the first quasi-sentence I introduced is "Evolution = trusting your environment". Warmly, Maria-Emanuela Galanti, also known as "MEG"
