Workflow block, Can anyone help 😀
Hi Community, It would be much appreciated if any member could help. I have been practising following small workflows, which I thought was going okay. However when I moved onto the IF Node input data was not being passed over so the next process did not have any data to work with. I persevered with it until 3 am determined to find out what the issue was, however I couldn't resolve it 😕 I know it will probably be something simple, but I don't know what that could be 🤷‍♂️ If anyone could help, that would be great and much appreciated 😀

@Tanner Woodrum Yes that’s correct, going by the 404 error it could be an issue with Postbin which is where the data was meant to end up

@Hector Diaz Welcome to the Community, I'm sure you have a wealth of experience that members can benefit and learn from, especially people who aspire to follow in your foot steps 😀
Greetings!
Hi Everyone! I am a hotelier with a passion for computing and all things tech. Over the years, I spent a lot of time staying in line with the fast development of technology. As such, after an opportunity came about to assist a hotel client with digital marketing, I took the role and basically my function in the industry transitioned to focus on marketing and online presence. I have procrastinated with jumping in and embracing automation since it hit the scene, but have picked up quite a bit on my own and built a few workflows to simplify my duties. This is just the start I'm glad to be part of this community!

@Dale James Welcome to the Community, it seems you made the right choice embracing Automations as you definitely have the background. I can most certainly say procrastination is the work of the devil and it captures all of us. I’m interested in finding out which Workflows you have created, did you have to tweak them multiple times, and when you tested your Workflows did you find they behaved as you wanted? I’m just starting out myself and have watched a few video modules. Did you also progress your learning by watching tutorials or just getting hands on inside platforms like N8N? 😃

@Dale James I appreciate your reply, yes I completely agree with you it’s not great for client confidence if the installed Workflow keeps breaking down. I think N8N is a more stable platform but can be a little harder to master. I have been following a tutorial for building a Workflow and it was going well but I hit a snag when input data wasn’t being transferred over from one Node to other and no matter what I tried I couldn’t get this Node to Execute. So I get what you mean, no doubt it will be something simple, but I have no idea what that is. Which is really annoying as I don’t like not finishing a task,. I even asked AI in N8N but it wasn’t much help 🤷‍♂️

@Chloe Parker Welcome to the community, you are in good company with complete beginners like myself, more experienced people like @Ms. Niche and the Automation Experts like @Tanner Woodrum @David Ashby Are you just starting out on your Automation journey or do you already have some knowledge or experience 😊
Self Hosted N8N locally vs using self hosting platform
What are the key differences between running n8n locally (self-hosted) versus using a managed hosting platform, and which option is better for beginners? I’m currently running n8n locally using Docker. I’m considering moving to a hosting platform like Render or Replit, but so far it feels very similar. The main difference I see is that with a hosted setup, n8n is always on and I don’t need to keep my machine running. For those who’ve tried both, what other differences should beginners be aware of—especially around reliability, cost, maintenance, and scaling?
