Greetings!
Hi Everyone! I am a hotelier with a passion for computing and all things tech. Over the years, I spent a lot of time staying in line with the fast development of technology. As such, after an opportunity came about to assist a hotel client with digital marketing, I took the role and basically my function in the industry transitioned to focus on marketing and online presence. I have procrastinated with jumping in and embracing automation since it hit the scene, but have picked up quite a bit on my own and built a few workflows to simplify my duties. This is just the start I'm glad to be part of this community!

@Ros Wei Thanks for your note, I'm happy to be surrounded by like-minded people. Don't get me wrong, I have only set up a few automations that pull data from website form submissions to a CRM and send an acknowledgement email. I used Make at the start, but as easy as it was, I ran into issues where workflows just stopped working and this was not good for the client. I moved to n8n and initially it was much harder to figure out, I watched plenty videos and used AI to get me through to success. Now I'm looking to do a lot more, both for the business and to improve operations of our few clients. My advice is never give up, the answer is out there and most times it is a small issue preventing the flow from functioning.

Many thanks Tanner, will do.
Self Hosted N8N locally vs using self hosting platform
What are the key differences between running n8n locally (self-hosted) versus using a managed hosting platform, and which option is better for beginners? I’m currently running n8n locally using Docker. I’m considering moving to a hosting platform like Render or Replit, but so far it feels very similar. The main difference I see is that with a hosted setup, n8n is always on and I don’t need to keep my machine running. For those who’ve tried both, what other differences should beginners be aware of—especially around reliability, cost, maintenance, and scaling?

Hostinger is a lot more economical than paying regulae price for n8n. Easy to setup as well.
What do you always do first?
Before touching any tool or workflow, what’s your very first step when creating an automation?

@Tanner Woodrum Solid plan there, saves a lot of time to make sure there is a fit.

You're right @Gabriel Marquez, it is hard to keep up with all that is happening, but at least we are here getting into it unlike others.
