Does consumer vs enterprise ssds in the home lab make a difference?
Check out my latest home lab experiment: Consumer vs Enterprise SSDs in the Home Lab: I Benchmarked Both in Ceph https://www.virtualizationhowto.com/2026/03/consumer-vs-enterprise-ssds-in-the-home-lab-i-benchmarked-both-in-ceph/

Very interesting insights about one of the classical bottlenecks we can encounter in professional life, thank you ! For my personal usage, considering the price of one disk is higher than my complete home-lab setup (including mugs and coffee machine), I will wait a little until I face this problem for real :-)

@Brandon Lee I recently found a second hand Raspberry Pi nvme duo board, so I look for a pair of ssd : the one I get at 29$ last year now cost 99$... So mad ! It's barely a better deal to buy old pcs just for the ssd ! (btw it can be a good way to acquire experience in disk management with a better chance of real random failure on old disks :-)
