Women's circles incoming
As a result of last Sunday's in person gathering a Sue's place and tonight's virtual cuppa, for those in the Goulburn-Yass-Canberra area, we are going to set up a monthly women's sharing circle. Once a month on a Sunday afternoon, likely in a hall in Gunning. Details to come later but please indicate your interest in the comments. For those further afield I am happy to host a monthly virtual circle as well. Again please indicate your interest and availability in comments. Love to all πŸ’™

Just letting you know the the permie property I did my course at nr Bega is having an open day this Saturday. Not expecting anyone to go, really posting just for awareness. There will be more opportunities next year, and I assume another 2-week course too. https://www.facebook.com/share/1AHZgLXg8Z/
Weekly update
Hope you had a lovely weekend. The weather is so great, I have been in the garden making up for a few years of neglect! πŸ’—IN-PERSON GATHERING AT SUE'S NEAR YASS - SAVE THE DATE Sunday 30 November, 10am to 3pm at Sue's block near Yass (details will be sent to those who RSVP). A day of sharing food, skills and knowledge. RSVP in the comments on this post or text me 0472 699 920, tell me what you can bring to share and if you want to offer anything in the way of skills or knowledge (totally optional!). So far we have: @Jaki F bringing a tray of zucchini slice, and offering a summary of Tibetan Buddhist meditation philosophy and a short meditation. @Jules Baker bringing somewthing sweet and offering a session on tips to quell overthinking. @Kath Kovac (i.e. me) bringing a polenta frittata and offering a mindfulness drumming session and some qigong. @Sue Mackenzie doesn't need to bring anything as she is providing the venue πŸ’– 😎 THE PAST WEEK ON MOOD BOOST We had a go at mindful or conscious writing on Fun Friday, in two parts as I was moving my keyboard out of the way and accidentally stopped the recording. Mindful/conscious writing - Part 1 - Weekly mindfulness sessions Β· Mood Boost Mindful/conscious writing - Part 2 - Weekly mindfulness sessions Β· Mood Boost We had Wednesday evening cuppa at the new time of 7pm thanks to my son's guitar lesson. We talked about a window covering called Magnetite that can block winter draughts without blocking you view. I can't remember what else we covered while I was sitting in the car watching it get dark! During Monday morning cuppa we discussed collapsing the duality of so-called 'normal' life experience to experience oneness with the universe, and the imbalance in the world and ourselves between masculine and feminine (or left/right brain, emotional/logical, yin/yang). Mind-blowing stuff!

I can bring something sweet (hopefully I'll have some berries by then). I can do a short summary of the permaculture course that my daughter and I are doing this month.
Cuppa chat
Great chat this morning over brekkie. My internet cut out again at the end so you'll have to tell me what a hill-garden is next time :)

Oo, this is what I know as a hugelkultur bed. I'm experimenting with a bigger version at home; there was a very small dam that only ever had water in it in very wet years and mostly was empty, so all the cleared up branches and some weedy trees and the base of a big pine that had come down some years ago filled up the space and then I added a few truckloads of reasonable soil from an excavation off site and let the grass grow to give the whole thing time to settle. It's now time to get some more soil in, mulch it, and plant a green manure crop that I can mow, then plant some fruit and nut trees with compatible smaller productive plants around them (a planting guild). Aiming for a mini 'food forest' (eg How I created a mini food forest in my small urban backyard - ABC News https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-12-15/creating-a-mini-urban-food-forest-in-my-small-backyard/103218416) 🌳🌿🌱 Challenges include cost, and darn rabbits.

My understanding is that it is an old German(?) practice that's more recently been revived partly due to permaculture.
