Loving this choreo!
Ok, Robin! Thanks for being the trailblazer, girl! I brainfarted briefly a couple of times, but I am loving this choreo! Thanks, Peiwei, for your artistry, talent, masterful instruction, and sense of fun! Looking forward to your feedback. 🙏

Ok running through the last parts we did without music. Don’t mind my counting and breathing 😂. I’m still looking for a good angle/place for my phone. I don’t always have room for some of the styling (and styling is not one of my strengths).

@Peiwei Cobo lol I already can’t remember what comes next 😂😂😂 I’ll get there. Thank you!
Ok doing something risky…
@Peiwei Cobo encouraged us to post practice videos to the platform. And because I joined this team to do all of the things that make me the least comfortable in dance, I will do yet another thing that makes me really uncomfortable. 😂 (who needs the new year to start goals? 🤷🏻‍♀️) I’m not posting my full Choreo practice quite yet, but I really needed to drill the kick step in the second part. So this is the second half of my the kick step drills. Will work on arms at some point 😱

Also in no particular order Fausto- he’s fun, energetic, friendly, skilled AF Karel Flores- a modern legend Baudilio Rivera Super Mario- one of the best workshops I’ve ever taken Bryan Hernandez- San Diego cha cha instructor w/lots of flavor Peiwei- obvi 😂😂😂😂 Nicole at Nashville salsa- for focus on gender dynamics in her teaching Eli Torres- my private instructor constantly has me in awe. Also a salsa legend. His skill level, assessment ability, teaching skills, attention to the tiniest details, and deep knowledge of dance is something I think people at all levels should experience. Tropical Gem- great energy, so fun, so creative. The folks @ Iroko I forgot Yusimi Moya whose workshop was also life changing.

@Liz Ponce it’s so important to draw attention to non-influencer dancers!
How can I learn Shines/Combo faster?
Ever wonder why some dancers pick things up SO FAST in class? What I’ve noticed is that many dancers are missing a huge piece of the learning process. I’ve taught hundreds of dancers how to learn faster and more effectively in class — from students who struggle with a single 8-count to dancers who can learn any Shines & choreography almost instantly that even shocked me🤯 Does this sound like your experience? Or do you have any tips that have helped you learn faster? Drop them below 👇 and I’ll share my methodology in a blog inside the “To Answer Your Questions…” course!

@Liz Ponce that’s so funny. I was talking to my private instructor about something similar in our last session. I was saying how it’s almost like I just have to drill or practice styling or shines or whatever it is that I’m trying to integrate into my social dancing. If I’m intentional about it on the social floor, it just won’t happen. But at some point, it gets fully baked and randomly pops out while I’m social dancing, and then it just ends up being in my repertoire.😂

@Liz Ponce yes! I really need to work on dancing in classes/practice the way I do social dancing. I wish I understood why it feels so different.
The Unspoken Rule at Social 🤐
Your facial & body language says A LOT, sometimes more than your words! Have you ever had someone tell you at a social, “You look upset — you should smile more”? Or danced with someone who never made eye contact, never smiled, and left you feeling a little thrown off? Or maybe you were simply tired, said no to a dance, and later found out they thought you were upset with them — or worse, that you were being arrogant? I’m curious — what has your experience been ☕️👂Fear not, your secret is safe with all of us...

This is such a good topic and I fully believe that we should prioritize kindness in social dance communities. I often say that if you’re not kind to me off of the dance floor, I’m not interested in dancing with you on the dance floor. But I will also say I do think that often times (especially male leads) have really interesting expectations of female follows when it comes to relying on their facial expressions as validation of their leading or dancing. I’m working really hard at connecting more with eye contact and facial expressions on the dance floor and also sometimes I’m concentrating really hard even if I am having fun and I don’t know that it’s really fair for a lead to relies solely on the follows facial expressions to determine if they’re having a good time and to validate them.
