They need to see your work up front. Why would someone want to work with you if they can’t see what you’re capable of? People send an application and CV when applying for a job, your portfolio works in the same way. If they’re impressed, it sets you up well for the call. So make sure you’re putting your best pieces of copy in your portfolio for everyone to see.

I’m currently outreaching and have a few warm leads (they responded to my openers). When do I go ahead to pitch them and what’s the best way to? I looked at all the material from Tyson but I don’t really quite understand when I should pitch so it doesn’t sound too salesy. I understand this is not a one size fits all but is there any trick or something I can use to actually have people listen to my free value and not just ghost? Also what are the best ways of pitching? I’m currently doing free value stuff where I tell them what how and why they need to change a certain thing through IG DMs.

Hey guys, thanks for clicking on this. I’ve been thinking a lot about copywriting these days and I’ve logged back into my Instagram account. I need to set it up rn. However, I don’t know why but I have this big thing holding me back. I don’t want to write anything about copywriting in my description because I’m scared of people from my school talking about it. I don’t want people to know or make a huge thing about it and the thought of that really intimidates me. I know that I’m thinking of potential worst case scenarios and overthinking about it. I also asked myself multiple times to prioritize: is it really worth thinking about this and never tapping into your fill potential? It just really feels weird, I can’t stop thinking about it. Do you guys have any solutions or other apps I could outreach better on? Also, I’ve just set up my IG account and so many people I know are being recommended to my account and it really makes me feel insecure. I just want to persue copywriting without everyone having to know.
