A partner in crime...
I've been thinking a lot about what my screenwriting life could be like with a writing partner. As a songwriter, I've co-written and collaborated with others. It can be challenging to find someone you click with, who has a similar aesthetic. I'd like to ask this of @David Stem but also invite anyone else to chime in on their personal experience. David, in some of our sessions you've talked about how much you learned from your writing partner and how that partnership really helped get you "into the room". How did you decide you needed a writing partner? And how did you find them?

Ola' Anna! I have always been a solo venturer with a friend in tow. Usually, I would write everything and have a friend that I could bounce ideas off of and also help me edit myself as I tended to be a bit flowery more prose than that was needed etc. Up until recently, I decided to jump in with a "partner" and we are complete opposites in every single way; except we have an open mind to each others ideas and there is a deep understanding that we are trying to make the work as best as it can be and that has made the work go in places I would have never even imagined and has made all the difference. My two cents find someone that drives you mad enough to challenge you (a friendly repartee) but their is a mutual respect so you can be open to the possibilities...
New Members - Free Hot Seat Coaching Call - Monday, March 2, 10 a.m. Pacific time
I'm sure you've seen the threads of all the coaching calls going on around here. Now's your chance to get into a room and see what real coaching is like and experience how you can get CLARITY and transform your own pages. Link: New Member Hot Seat Way too many aspiring writers work hard, but are ultimately chasing their own tails as they try to figure out how the NEXT rewrite can fix whatever vague problems they've gotten in notes sessions from friends or an anonymous script feedback service online. These sessions are very hands on. As we read your pages and I walk you through the process of how to see and think about them like a pro. It's exactly what I've done for the last 25 years. And it's transforming folks' script around here every week. If that sounds good to you, drop the first 10 pages of your script below. Or a treatment, log line, whatever you want feedback on. That's what we do here and it changes everything about how you write and helps you learn to love the process all over again! DM me directly if you have any questions! This is for new members only. Regular folk, I'll see you at Tuesday or Friday's sessions! Note: this weeks' New Member call will also include a big announcement for the entire community. Don't miss it! Thanks, David
