Future home of 986 swap!! Almost ready!
New to SJ area, if anyone knows a solid machine shop pm me please! Got just about everything ready to start. Thanks to ICT, Kennedy and send it automotive! Step 1 make garage usable Step 2 visit machinist and make an engine out of all the parts! Step 3 build drivetrain up off car Step 4 fabricate hardtop and open up space on 986 Step 5 merge the two.. Step 6 push off cliff when can’t get all the gremlins solved, or go to jail and get impounded because did get all the gremlins solved! LT1 short block from 2019 c7 wet sump. Needs some small repairs (hence machine shop); been thru several variations and swapped it out for a forged unit. -lt2 heads, fuel system, ported intake, 103tb, ie lt2 ported top end 3 cams to pick from (tsp stg3, stock lt1, LT2) Dod delete, vvt delet, tsp cover or stock lt1/2, block has ns300sl thread serts, arp stud kit, I’m basically raiding my Arizona setup, put c7 back to CA legal. Lots of stock and aftermarket Lt1/2 covers, pumps valve train etc. Lots of ICT bits, for electric cooling, adapters, vacuum plates, motor mounts and on and on. Ecu and tcm with hp tuners unlocked from 2019 c7; Custom harness Kennedy adapters, clutch set, starter, throw out Pound design subframe and mounts —— this is going to take a while!! Seeing is believing I suppose…

@Eric Harmer yes it is 2004 boxster s 3.2 6spd manual. Last year before computers got involved heavily. I’ve had it since 2006, only done suspension mods over last 20years. 20ft paint job, straight body, row car. It recently developed terminal bore score in 3 cylinders (hmm go figure) and it’s simply not worth rebuilding any 98/96 box motors. 30k for 300 hp :( Porsche tax even on the cheapest least loved Porsche ever made.
The Great Debate: What’s the Best Power Adder and Why?
Everyone has a favorite way to make power. What’s yours and why? Is it the peak numbers, the sound, the cost, the way it drives, or something else?? Lets hear it!

NA anytime I can, throttle response, sounds weight and simplicity. FI in general Turbo > positive d sc > centrifugal sc > rear/remote turbo. Application changes things, sc is more predictable and consistent to drive but less fuel efficient and failure is always walk and ride home time. From blown belts too bent crank snouts, ppl neglect the self oiling unit oil, and binding up / mangling the whole accessory drive system. Turbo is going to provide more power once spooled up, cost is weight and packaging complexity. Seemed I could always feel the effects of atmospheric conditions without daily tuning; seemed to feel less consistent. Failure usually meant smoke and limp home, sometime lucky bits of metal in the intake. No perfect answer without a “use” case. IMO N20’ is best for the dentists, usually seen run in sleepers or race scams, it is 100% best for sponsored top cars or too spoil their turbos. The instant power is unreal and on command, it’s cheapest way to achieve you tube power figures, shocks everything terribly and wears parts FAST, sadly it usually takes a nda with one dumb issue (solenoid/frozen nozzle/low or high bottle pressure) generally that means the motor goes 💥.
