My Own Experience of 1 Week of Job Search in Germany from India
Hi All, I hope youโ€™re doing well! I am a web developer with 5 years of experience in PHP (with frameworks) and React.js. I have recently completed my A1 and A2 levels in German and will start B1 on February 20th. Meanwhile, I have started my job search in Germany. I applied for 100 jobs within 1 week using job portals in Germany. However, I did not get many positive responses. Some companies replied, saying they prefer candidates who are already in Germany. I understand that the chances of getting a job might be higher if I apply from within Germany rather than from India. However, I have several questions, such as: Can I go to Germany and search for a job, or is it very difficult to stay there while looking for a job? Is anyone willing to share their thoughts or guidance on this? Any advice would be very helpful for me to decide my next steps.

Hi @Jenith J, Thanks for reaching out. It's a bit hard to give a general answer, as it really depends on each person's situation. Whether you should search from India or move to Germany depends on various factors like the type of role you're looking for, your industry, experience level, and whether your skills are currently in demand in the German job market. What works well for one person might not necessarily work for another. Wishing you all the best with your travel and job search!
Key Insights for Successful Job Searching in Germany
Hi All, Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with a software developer who has 22 years of experience, including 18 years working in Germany. He shared some valuable job-searching advice, much of which we might already know. However, one key point stood out, and I believe it could benefit others. As developers, when we specialize in a particular area, we shouldnโ€™t limit ourselves to what we already know. Instead, we should expand our skill set by learning additional technologies or skills that are in demand in the job market, especially in Germany. To identify these in-demand skills, you can search job portals and carefully read job descriptions to understand the skills employers are looking for. Analyze at least 100 job listings to spot common skills and technologies that frequently appear. This will help you pinpoint the additional knowledge you need to acquire. You donโ€™t have to become an expert in these areas, but having basic knowledge can significantly increase your chances of success. We should approach job searching more broadly to maximize our chances. By widening our search, we improve the likelihood of securing at least one opportunity, even among thousands of potential options. Start Learning ๐Ÿ˜Š
