Client Vanished After 1st Milestone Payment
Hey everyone, I need some guidance on a situation I’m stuck in. I had a client who invited me to a project on Upwork. His profile was new, but his payment method was verified, so I took the job after thoroughly checking everything. The project was split into 3 milestones. He funded the first milestone, and I completed the work and submitted it. He didn't approve it, but due to Upwork’s automatic payment policy after 14 days, I eventually received the money. Since then, I’ve messaged him multiple times for feedback and to continue with the next milestone. He came online once and just said he needed more revisions, but then disappeared again. No clear feedback, no new milestone funded, no updates — totally ghosted. Now I’m stuck. I’m unsure whether to close the contract myself or keep waiting. I don’t want to leave a bad impression on my profile. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?

The project has been open for the past three months. The client rarely comes online and often sends me messages requesting new revisions. Additionally, I have asked for payment several times, but the client goes silent again, even though the project was completed two months ago.
Client Sent Contract From Another Account
I’m new to Upwork, and I had a client who discussed a project with me in an interview call 5 months ago but then disappeared. Now, they suddenly messaged me again and gave me the project with slight changes. However, they sent the contract from another new Upwork account under a different name. Both accounts are new: - The client's original account has a verified payment method and phone number. - The second account (which sent the contract) is also new but has only the payment method verified, with the first milestone funded in escrow. Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

@Lloit Mejia No, the client account was created just one day before, when we had a meeting five months ago, during which the client asked for a quotation, and I provided it. However, the client then disappeared. A few days ago, the client reached out again, and we confirmed the details about the project. The client sent me the contract from a new account, explaining that it belongs to their partner. This account was also created just a day ago. Two fishy things: 1) During our first meeting, the client indirectly suggested connecting outside of Upwork to chat on WhatsApp, but I firmly refused. 2) When I accepted the contract and requested the login details, I noticed that the password I tried to use had been involved in some data breaches.

@Lloit Mejia We had a standard conversation about the project during the meeting. When I attempted to log in to WordPress, a pop-up warned me that my password had been involved in data breaches and advised me to change it. After I shared a screenshot of this issue with the client, they changed the password and sent me the updated login details.
