Client Vanished After 1st Milestone Payment
Hey everyone,
I need some guidance on a situation I’m stuck in.
I had a client who invited me to a project on Upwork. His profile was new, but his payment method was verified, so I took the job after thoroughly checking everything. The project was split into 3 milestones.
He funded the first milestone, and I completed the work and submitted it. He didn't approve it, but due to Upwork’s automatic payment policy after 14 days, I eventually received the money.
Since then, I’ve messaged him multiple times for feedback and to continue with the next milestone. He came online once and just said he needed more revisions, but then disappeared again. No clear feedback, no new milestone funded, no updates — totally ghosted.
Now I’m stuck. I’m unsure whether to close the contract myself or keep waiting. I don’t want to leave a bad impression on my profile.
Has anyone else dealt with something like this?
