Is emergent language what happens when the photocopier is broken?
We spoke with Richard Chinn and Danny Norrington-Davies about it. The podcast episode is coming out in the coming days, but here's a sneak peek of 5 key takeaways from the episode: - asking good questions is where all good lessons succeed - forcing language to emerge is where good lessons fail - teacher training courses focus on teachers. Where's the focus on the students? What do you think about these takeaways? How do you view emergent language? You can listen to all Teacher Talking Time podcast episodes in any app, or on our website. Look for this great one with Richard and Danny later this week. And they have an awesome book called "Working with emergent language" as well.

Let's do it!!! Danny's first book catched already my attention about 2 months ago... but imported goods here are incredibly expensive. Going to make some savings to get it (and the newest book) directly from the publisher. 💃

@Syme Van der Lelij Loved your comment. It's exactly the same I feel many times. 👌

Hey there! Welcome to the Teacherpreneur Support Network! @Michael Landry , @Leonardo Gomes and I are excited to have you here. Over the past half decade, we’ve surveyed thousands of teachers from around the world, and there are two things they are passionate about: finding news ways to improve their teaching and having a steady income. These combined play a major role in teacher wellbeing, and the main goal of this community is to help you develop in both of these areas. To kick things off, Step 1: Make your first post HERE by using the template below: Let everyone know: 1. Your name 2. Why you joined this community 3. Your business goal for the next 30 days 4. What you're looking for help with in this community. Step 2: Learn how to get unstuck & set up your foundations - start with Module 1 here. *See Step 3 below _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The goal of this network is to help YOU and other aspiring teacherpreneurs feel confident in setting up their teaching businesses the right way. Watch the video below, answer the poll, and introduce yourself as an orientation to the platform and this community. The community here will be what we all make it. Let's not consume passively but rather contribute actively, build accountability, and help each other along the way. Some ways to do this: - make useful posts consistently - share tips that have worked for you - ask good questions - offer advice to those you believe you can help One thing is for sure: everyone here wants to see YOU succeed. STEP 3 RESOURCES: Everyone is at a different stage of their business, and we have resources here to help you with where you are.

@Karoline Augustin In addition to that, I've to confess that I feel very nervous when it comes to recording videos or taking pictures of myself. I don't like it 😫
First steps
#Core task 1 I had the following idea (assembling all the insights I had lately and the experiences here in the group), and I'm hoping for some feedback: 1) create an IG business profile - yeah, serious, I don't have one - or maybe any other platform? 2) maybe start with some information about me??? (is this the usual strategy to fill up a bit an empty profile?) 3) set the idea of holiday/summer grammar review or intensive course, based on doubts and questions students have by commenting them (like: "Do you remember .... ? Still feeling insecure between ... and ... ? etc) - this may narrow down the vast grammar topics, although I've already sorted out some, based on my years of experience 4) wait and see what comes back - Start first, then learn. Sell first, then go crazy. 😅 But I've a lot of doubts about IG, I'm not a poster and not even frequent user. Do you have any tips? My LinkedIn account is about 12 years untouched... Do I need to present a logo and my business name? As I'm a German as a foreign language teacher, the name is "Punkt.Deutsch". Feel free to look up the words in dictionaries and comment on the meaning.

I need to take a look. I do believe that part of my target audience is on LinkedIn, so I really have to re-activate my account, update it and give it a try. 👏 Thanks so much for this valuable advice

@Tony Brown That's the way all my actual students come from. I could follow the ways back until a friend and fellow teacher, and 2 of her sisters
