Hello All! I'm Jon. Husband. Dad. Change agent. 58-years old. I've been a mindfulness-based therapist for 30 years. While I deeply enjoy that work, the market caps income and I've been exploring transformations in my work to increase the potential (of income, but more importantly: reach). Not afraid to put in a lot of work. But, not fully satisfied having an income cap or limits in my reach. My special areas of practice include working with separated parents as a therapist/coach (and, in the past as a mediator, divorce class presenter, and expert witness). My history: I ran and co-created men's groups for many years earlier in my career. I've run groups for teen dads. On Skool, I tried to build a community for a couple of years to help people transform work/career stress into focus, clarity, and confidence. Got around 40 people in the free version though was not successful at getting members to participate. I had a paid group that included weekly live coaching calls and didn't succeed in making that profitable. Also, on Skool: I launched a community for dads going through divorce (Being Dad after Divorce) though, again, got a lot of people to join for free and near zero participation. Wasn't able to get the paid version profitable, either. So, I deleted the paid group and now only have the free group which I intend to refashion and relaunch. If you visit it at the moment, it's in transition and I need to fill it with the content that was in the paid version. My private practice is very successful. My clients enjoy amazing transformations and that's rewarding. But, my experience so far is that those I attract for free have such low commitment that they don't engage and don't get the transformation. Thus, I can't create the testimonials and synergy for the group to thrive and grow. My private clients have skin in the game and are motivated enough to pay me $130/hour. Thus far, haven't figured out how to market the group coaching product. So, my current Skool group is: Being Dad after Divorce (free). I also run one called The Little Zendo which is for people wanting to learn mindfulness to lower anxiety also free.

Forgot to mention part of my business model related to dad-ness... My wife and I live in two places: Indiana and Bangkok. As you might guess, there are many very poor people in Thailand. We live in a very Thai and non-touristy part of the city. Lots of disadvantaged kids around. One little girl in our neighborhood had her father die and her mother totally strung out on drugs. The mother would leave her at 4-years old alone in their apartment for days at a time with no food and no money. So, we took the little girl under our wing. Make sure she has food. Make sure she has clothing for school. Make sure her tuition is paid (public school isn't free in Thailand). So, we became quasi-parents to her. She's now 11 and doing well in school (even attending extra English classes outside of school which we pay for). I don't mention this for a pat on the back. It's the right thing to do. But... It caused me to think of how to help more kids like her. So... I launched a discount hotel booking site with the aim to raise money to help more disadvantaged kids in Thailand. Donating 20% of any profits I get from the project to the kids. So, I can help people do good while traveling and I can be a little more of a dad to some kids who need it. Feel free to check it out or share... https://goodstay.fun
Dadness Madness - Match-up #2
The results are in, by a slim margin of one vote from @Matthew Thompson, Mufasa squeaks past Marlin. But this matchup I feel will be highly controversial. Who's a better dad, Uncle Phil or Danny Tanner? 👇 Drop a "Phil" or "Danny" in the comments

@Ryan Carnohan TBH: Back in 1988 (after one of those sessions where I wasted 3 hours watching a bunch of slop on cable), I said to my roommate, "Let's throw the tv out the window." He was always up for anything. So, we carried it up to the second floor and threw it out onto the street (nobody was hurt). Cancelled cable. Watched nearly zero tv/movies for many years. Haven't seen either of them.
