Mental Rehearsal...Is It Worth The Time?
Curious on others thoughts on this concept. I first learned about mental rehearsal in music and studying piano as well as in sports. The research on it is pretty incredible. But I never thought about it in regards to rehearsing our future. I learned about this from Dr. Joe Dispenza. He says that we can create our future reality with a clear intention and an elevated emotion. I see this fitting in with Napoleon Hill's success law of creating a Definite Purpose. So how does it work? Well, for me, every morning the moment I wake up, I shift over into the chair next to my bed and close my eyes and rehearse in my mind what my future looks like. I feel the emotions of what it will be like. I vividly imagine where I will be living, what I will be doing with my time, who I will be serving, and who I am being. Then I take a few moments to review and internalize my Definite Purpose. I use this to remind myself of my why. I go back to it throughout my day when (not if) I find myself experiencing all the emotions and resistance we encounter when we are going through growth. Resistance may show up as procrastination, self doubt, fear, failure, perfectionism, distractions, and even the desire to remain in my comfort zone. Few people will do the thing that they are called to do in life. Mentally rehearsing what that thing is helps me to continue moving on that path forward. My personal opinion is that it is definitely worth the time. What are your thoughts?
