๐Ÿ‘Ž The Skool automation problem
Automations on Skool are pretty limited and a lot of times frustrating. API is something that developers use to provide automation solutions by allowing an app to talk to other apps/codes. Solutions like Zapier, Make and N8N are basically a way to simplify all of that with no code needed. The problem is that Skool does not have a public API. It is also not featured at N8N. Meaning you're limited to automations on Zapier and Make. Of course automation wizards can go around that, but the alternative solutions are usually complicated and against Skool's terms and services. The Skool integration with Make is basically useless. The only possible action is to Invite a New Member. So we are left with Zapier. Here is what you can do with it: --> Triggers: the starting point of an automation - Membership questions: take the answers of the membership questions and use them to store somewhere or peform an action. The problem: it would be great if it didn't also work for rejected members. So you can't use that for email automations or automatic messages, as they would also include people you don't want inside your community. So it's only decent use case is market research. - New PAID member: that's right, the triger only works for members who paid. If your community is free, you can't use that. And another stupid limitation: the trigger also don't work if a member joined at a free trial! What a joke. ---> Actions: stuff you can do after the automation already started - Invite member: invite a member to a specific classroom course - Unlock course for member: the name says it all That's it. Shitty triggers with annoying and unecessary restrictions and patetically limited actions. No way to automate messages, posts, calendar events, add auto moderation. No way to get info for stuff beyond member's answers. And no open API to get around those limitations in an ethical way. In Plan Your Tech I'm always discussing and looking for ways to go around those limitations and do the best with what we have.

I wish I could but I'm solving some tough problems at work
Where is your online business present?
Having your online presence in different places takes a lot of work. But sometimes is worth it, as you need to go where your audience/ potential clients are. There is a danger of spreading yoursef too thin and not focusing enough on one plaform. But in some cases having a presence in different platforms is worth it. Specially if you can easily crosspost the same content around all of them. So what platforms do you use to be present online? Here are some examples: - YouTube: YouTube is quickly becoming the largest search engine, sometimes competing with google. Having your presence in video form is also almost mandatory to succeed online as people will hire you if they trust you, and they will trust you if they can see you. So creating your presence on YouTube is a must. - Facebook Page: Great for paid traffic. You can set it up very easily and have a gret portifolio for your business. - Instagram: Have great sinergy with Facebook, and allows for very easy automatic crossposting. So if you have one, there is no reason to not have the other. - TikTok: If your focus is on viral content, this is a great place. You can get decent traction even by having very little subscribers. It seems like tiktok doesn't punish you for having little people following you, so It's a great place for new joiners. I had a dark TikTok channel where I put low effort career guidance tips. One of my posts there still gets likes and views to this day, 2 years after I abandoned the account. - Website: Having your own website and using SEO strategies to appear on google searches is also great. Having your home page as your landing page and making posts is also great for content marketing. Landing page + Google Ads is a great way for people to find you. - Reddit: having a presence on reddit is a great way to make connections and capture clients. Reddit is still the largest commmunity platform in the world. It's a SEO goldmine. I got my high ticket client from there. - Freelance profiles: Upwork and Fiverr are a good alternative to get jobs and get clients. But you need to count partially on luck as those are very disputed. But depending on your niche is a good idea.

@Eric William yeah some stuff they do well. others not so much. and it gets too complex for people who try to use it by themselves. it's the oposite of KISS

@Eric William yeah. the more fearures a tool has, the more custmization it allows for, the more complex it is and the biggest the learning curve. That's why a lot of people don't like GHL. If a tool has 30 hour tutorials, there is something wrong with it for today's standards.
