100k guarantee?
Any one else know that if you buy a yamaha and follow the maintenance schedule and fluid change intervals using yama-lube and other yamaha products they guarantee the motor to 100,000 miles? Its a very unspoken and unknown policy that yamaha has. I found out about it researching fluids to use for maintenance after my 2 year factory warranty and maintenance plan expired. Aside from being some of the finest and top performing machines money can buy this is something to consider when looking for a new ride. Just thought id share with the community.

@Elad Best very ture but with yamaha from what ive read as long as u keep records and receipts theyll fix catastrophic failures. All the way up to 100k. And thats from people posting about it on yamaha forums. And if u dig enough u can find it on yamahas website

@Robert Moeser true very true. The guarantee isnt that itll last that long. The guarantee is if u follow protocol and something fails yamaha will replace it free. One post on r6 forum said yamaha replaced the entrie engine. Gave him a brand new one for an early '00 r6 with high 90k miles on it. Free.NinetyFree.
Chain maintenance and chain life
So I had to visit the mechanic shop today as my motorcycle’s chain felt too loose the last few weeks, and even before he actually checked it, he told me: “Yeah, this chain is done for and needs to be replaced already”. I do remember doing around 18-20K (Kilometers) on it, so it sounds quite reasonable. Wanted to know how much do you guys ride on your chains in average.

@Elad Best any time u do or have maintenance done, wash it, before a long ride, or anytime it gets wet. Thats what a guy told me on r1 forum 6 years ago when i first bought it and asked the same question and its worked very well for me. Hope it helps. Chains are definitely a very close second to most important things to monitor and maintain behind tires. @Elad Best absolutely sir. And ive been blessed to have a garage for my bikes but if you have to park em out side get a good cover. One with enough length u can tuck it under the belly. Get some long bungees or lashing straps to keep it wrapped tight. Its not perfect dust will still get in there on windy days but hell dust gets around the garage door and all over my bikes on windy days too. But itll at least provide a little protection from the elements.
Were going to COTA baby!!!
Anyone else going to the MotoGP race in Austin this year? Ive slowly turned Chrystal into a super fan so im taking her for her birthday this year. First time for both of us. Club level grandstand seat by the finish and bought cycle corral parking passes for the harley which gets us on the track for a couple parade laps Saturday evening. Going to be so cool to turn a couple laps at COTA. Icing on the cake is its the inaugural race for the HD king of the baggers world cup. Going to get to see 200 mph road glides ripping and running. Its going to be an amazing weekend. Anyone else going?

Safety glasses?
Anyone else wear safety glasses under the visor? Ive always personally worn them. I keep 3 packs of milwaukee clears and tinted safety glasses handy. Theyre ansi z87+ rated which makes them impact resistant. Nice for when im riding with the visor up to protect the eyes and an added layer of protection incase something kicks up and hits u in the face and breaks the visor. My coworker came to worth with a black eye cuz a truck kicked up a rock or chunk of rubber. It caved in the visor and gave him a shiner. I told to wear safety glasses. The milwaukee 3 pack is like 23 bucks at home depot the arms are flexible enough they dont give u fatigue or hotspots around the ears. And for roughly 7 bucks a piece if they break get lost what ever its not really a big deal. So curious if anyone else out there does this. If you dont, u might consider it. U only get 2 eyes and u can never be to safe.

@Daniel Tolomei thats absolutely mandatory. Something about wearing goggles on dirt bikes and having eye pro on for work all the time just gave me the nagging feeling that they were needed under the visor. Especially when i got my helmet and stamped in the visor it said not impact resistant. The only one i have that is is my HJC RPHA 1N. Which is a track rated lid required for track days and the ones motogp riders wear. Then after i got the R1 i had been riding for maybe 2 months and saw a YouTube video of an 18 wheeler blowing a tire and a chunk of rubber caved in this guys face shield and tore up his face. From that day ive never ridden without eye pro

@Jeff Causey those will work and theyre probably eye pro. Look on the arms or lenses, id bet somewhere on there is an ansi stamp or z87+.
