Oh Be Still (Psalm 46)
Hey Friends! Here's a song that I wrote and then had a few others help with at a writing retreat. Definitely interested in some feedback/ideas on any areas that could still use some work! Verse 1: Peace be still for the Lord is here He's never left you and He never will The God who loves you ever hears your cry Oh be still the Lord is here Chorus: Oh be still and know For He is God enthroned Our refuge and strength He's never failing Be still and know Verse 2: Peace be still He will not be moved As waters rise He will rise with you The morning dawn will shine His mercies new Oh be still the Lord is here Oh be still the Lord is here Chorus 2: Oh be still and trust He's reigning over us Our victory sure He goes before us Be still and know Bridge: His power unshaken His word unfailing His reign unending Oh be still

I like this even more than I did at the songwriters retreat! My only observation is similar to Mike's in that the range is on the wider side congregational (octave plus 3rd?). So are some other very popular songs though, so it might make no difference. It's just something I think about with the songs we use. I appreciate how each section has a nice sounding melodic identity, that feels balanced, and it does strike me as very singable. I appreciate your heart in writing songs like this too, maybe there's another one. . . ;)

@Caroline VanHalteren i’m not sure that’s something you need to change. There are some songs I really love that push ranges a bit, it’s just a consideration. And I’m not sure that you could change it without really altering the song.
Welcome! Introduce yourself + share a pic of where you write.
Let's get to know each other. You can use this format: Hey, I'm from _____________ . For fun I like to _____________ . Here's a pic of where I write.

Hey all, my name is Patrick and I live up near Toronto, Ontario (Canada). As a hobby, I pretty much just play music, and hang out with my family. Now that it’s (finally) warming up out here I love getting outside and going for walk/hikes. I would have never thought of myself as a songwriter before, but this past year or so I’ve been a part of a few songwriting retreats have loved being a part of the process. It’s demystified the process a bit and I’ve been trying to do more of it now.

@Marc Willerton I was just thinking about those cool chords you showed me for Come, Lord Jesus.
Current Series?
Curious to know if your church is in a current sermon series? If so, where are you at?
