Hi everyone im looking for feedback on my newest song
I just completed it today, I have a feeling it sounds a bit harsh, really unsure, any advice would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ˜€ https://soundcloud.com/marc-cunningham-232392260/my-side-of-the-story?si=1345969655334cf481c3b93d05416423&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Hi Marc I'm never sure if I'm qualified to give my critique. We share the thought that it may be too harsh, I think this may partly come from the raw sounding vocal. Maybe try some reverb or a touch of delay or ambience or all 3, just a tad to soften slightly, to taste or just to see what difference could be made. I thought the intro was far too long but then if it was part of an album it could work but as a single too long? Another thing that could be causing the harshness could be the lack of low frequencies (is there a bass instrument?) and how the overall frequency peaks at the high mids. I thought it was a good song though. Keep it up. Hope to hear more from you.
Ollo x1 headphones
So they arrived 4 days early yesterday. Great but, Register the S/N which then creates an account which then generates an xps calibration file but nowhere to explain how or where to insert that, then a link to usc software on a different site with redeem code, whcih then creates and acc and linl to download. Installed it tried to authorise which it did and has the hardware ID , but not activated lol. Today decided to screenshot they error messages etc and was about to send when I decided on the usc website to go the offline route. Got immediate file which I dragged dropped on and it authorised and registered. Like no explanation! Now have to figure out the xps file. Weirdly there is no L and R on the H/P except you face the jack socket to front, but cable is wired with both red cables not a L or R to a stereo jack. So how does it tell which is which? Might get round to using them soon ...๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ™

@John Rowley How have you found the Slate VSX, for both sound and comfort? In comparison to the Ollo's? I have been considering both, the comfort thing is a biggie for me as my ears start hurting after about 40 mins with headphones that put any pressure on ears.

@John Rowley Thanks for that

Because of Jake Kodweis I was able to do this. Link at bottom
I would like to do a shout out to Jake and the Fix the Mix educators. I attended about 4-5 of the 3 day sessions over the past 6 months while simultaneously taking multiple other ( competitors to your program, sorry) courses on Logic, mixing, mastering, etc. I am recently retired and fulfilling my previously squelched desire to make and learn music during a crazy, busy career. I am not a great vocalist ( yea Flexpitch ) but felt I needed to do this project myself. It was created with audio -only in mind and the video was an after thought (also a new endeavor). I just posted this yesterday. I encourage you , if time , to experience it a second time WITHOUT the video. With headphones on, if I did my mix and lyric-writing correctly, although you wonโ€™t be able to โ€œunseeโ€ some of the video images I used, I hope your ears, mind, memories and imagination will take you to an amazing place. You may even pick out an arpeggiated harp or distant clarinet. As Jake says, โ€œbetter to be felt and not heardโ€. The final chorus shows some of the 156 tracks in project. To put in perspective: I first attempted mixing on GarageBand in 2021. Lots of progress since Enjoy . @Jake Kodweis , I include you in shout out in video description https://youtu.be/azPDLdKorJs Lynn Dezelon
