Hello everyone! Are you well? I'd just like to air a couple of thoughts that spoke to me in the FTM event this week. What do you think? From Ben: people prefer to work with people who they like, or to whom they feel a connection. I recently learned that people in my physical or geographical community are hesitant, even straight up afraid, to work with me because I'm a foreigner, and female besides. These are just extra barriers. Ben's comments have given me lots to think about. Ken's comments in this event and elsewhere about tailoring your mixes to the client's preferences. I love this. I've thought about it lots because contextualization is a pillar in my work. Where is your line though? Are you willing to make choices and decisions you feel are "poor quality" but creates the sound the client wants and still put your name on it? To end, I'll just note that almost everything I know about audio engineering I learned in this school, from this community, mostly from the FTM events. I've got a long way to go, but I'm grateful for where I'm at now.

Who else started on a multi-track cassette or even older? I had a Yamaha MT2X back in the day (late 80's - early 90's) It had a built-in six-channel mixer, EQ, and effects send/return connections. I think I replaced the rubber band a couple of times before I got Cakewalk. When I was in the Air Force I used to record friends who wanted to make some demos of their stuff as well as my own things.

The latest Fix The Mix was stellar! Orchestration is such an emotional event. Luke provide us with an outstanding composition in such a short time. So much passion in his writing. You have a bright future ahead! Luke provided Kevin with such a solid platform to work from. What a great event showing Kevin at his best. Even though this was a jaundice that he wasn't so familiar with, his knowledge and expertise, could mix this with such confidence. Kevin demonstrated for us how to create all aspects of the cube and and with his skills and knowledge, created a mix that sounded like you were at the concert hall hearing this piece live!
