This is such a great question because for me I could consistently make tough shots but I would have trouble making the easy ones. I know I can’t be the only one that had this issue. It had a lot to do with my mental approach to the game. Both require attention to detail and a strong mind especially when the game is on the line. I would cheat and practice both at the same time if I couldπŸ˜‚. Shows how important the mental aspect of the game is and the most important skill to conquer!
Do you consider foul baiting a skill
Working with a lot of young players these days, I’ve noticed an increase in foul baiting. I understand where it comes from kids are watching the NBA and see players using it to their advantage at the highest level. However, it raises an important question: how do we teach young athletes the essence of the game while addressing behaviors like foul baiting?

Its a key skill to learn but only AFTER you learn how to play WITHOUT looking for a foul. I notice a lot of young guys try to play for a foul call without fully grasping the skill of playing through fouls. Once a player masters the confidence to play through fouls then they are ready to learn how to use the rules strategically to their advantage. When you put those 2 skills together you truly become unguardable and kill any confidence the defense has.
Do you agree?!?!?!?
I’m a big believer that kids should play multiple sports instead of specializing early. I know some people disagree and think they should focus on just one. What are your thoughts on this? And if you agree with multi-sport development, which sport do you think translates best to basketball?

For me it was football and boxing. Those 2 helped me with footwork especially and recently i have been seeing a lot of pro hoopers utilizing the jump rope and im happy to see that. Really helps a lot with the mind to body connection with your feet.

How would you approach??
Everyone says to elevate your basketball knowledge you must watch film! I completely agree but I am curious what do you guys look for when watching film?

I look for how players react to making reads when they have split second decisions to make and I also look for how many options the ball handler has when making a read so it can be easier for the player to break it down into a numbers game.
