Damn that was hard, haha!

Well here goes… Hi everyone. I am Nike (nee-kay, not the swoosh ☺️). I stumbled upon this amazing group a few months ago during one if my midnight research rampages, but have yet to introduce myself and get involved in what I am sure are some inspirational interactions and co-learnings in this community. So I figured, it’s about time to stop sitting on the edge and get in the pool already! The water is fine, right?! I currently work at a cybersecurity company as a non-technical L&D program manager , having taken a twisty-turny career journey to get here (a story for another time). But the point is, I’ve built a great career in tech without writing a line of code - which 10 years ago, I didn’t think was a thing. I am working on the side to build a career coaching/career education platform to help non-technical career changers find their own path to aligned careers in tech as well. I hope to use my skills and unique (but often relatable to my audience) story to show other ambitious career changers that they too can create a successful and aligned career in the tech industry without having to pursue technical roles that they are not necessarily interested in. It is also important to me to help women of color see that they can leverage their transferable skills to build life changing careers like I did and together work to change the narrative about who “belongs” in tech. So that’s why I am here. I’ve been dabbling and learning a little here and there while doing my 9-5 job, and the other job titles I carry (wife, human mom, dog mom, Chief Household Officer), but I intend to push forward in 2025 and reach the people out there who need and are ready for help.
