A concept.
Hey everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm excited to share the concept for a short film I'm working on, still untitledโ€” itโ€™s a surreal exploration of grief, memory, and emotional paralysis. My story is about navigating grief through surreal distortion, starring Alexโ€” a writer haunted by the absence of a loved one they never got to say goodbye to, taking place in a memory-soaked apartment that subtly twists and shifts with time. Itโ€™s a quiet, emotional piece that blends minimal dialogue with visual storytelling. Iโ€™d really love to hear your thoughts, especially if youโ€™ve played with surrealism or memory in your own work. What works? What could be stronger? Any references or inspirations you think I should look at? Thanks for reading โค๏ธ

@Chelsea Fazio hahaha okay youโ€™re lowkey giving writer/director energy now ๐Ÿ˜‚ Seriously though, your ideas are flowing! That second layer...him craving the memories and going deeper into it ๐Ÿ”ฅโ€” thatโ€™s exactly the emotional spiral I need. The gravesite twist?? Yeah we might need to cook that one up properly ๐Ÿ˜ญ Iโ€™ll definitely hit you up in the DMs โ€” would love to bounce more ideas around and maybe even build something together ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽฌ

@Ruzeth Db Thank you so much...this really hit deep. I really appreciate you sharing your personal experience too. That goodbye letter sounds like a powerful moment of release โ€” and it actually mirrors something I want Alex to try doing but fail atโ€ฆ maybe he doesnโ€™t even get to write it the first time. The part about clarifying the "why" really stuck with me. You're right...grief is just the surface, but thereโ€™s a deeper fear underneath. I think for Alex, it might be the fear of forgetting... or maybe the guilt of not being enough while the person was alive. That emotional root is something I definitely want to show visually...not through dialogue, but through silence, repetition, objects. Thanks again for the thoughtful breakdown. I'm gonna sit with these ideas and start anchoring scenes around that deeper โ€œwhy.โ€ ๐Ÿ™
