The Many Flavours of EnduranceworX
This community is made up of people with a variety of interests in Endurance sports. Most of our people are Triathletes but we do have Cyclists, Runners, Duathletes, Aquabikers, Paddlers, Footballers and recently Hyroxers. Our coaches, most of whom are still active athletes have experience as athletes and coaches in all of these sports. So we can all get to know each other let us know what your flavour is. I shall kick it off.

As Alan's son, I was raised on sport from a young age - stabilisers were promptly removed by the tender age of 2, I seem to recall. Throughout my youth, I tried lots of different sports; triathlon (the first time round) didn't quite stick, so I played football - which is what all my friends did - before finding more success with racket sports like badminton and tennis, and pure fun like skiing or skateboarding. Cycling was always present though - riding to school, uni, out with my dad, mountainbiking with my friends - I've always considered myself a cyclist first and foremost. During the covid pandemic, I started running - trail running, specifically - and fell in love immediately. Me and a group of some of my closest pals picked it up at the same time and were all pushing each other and enjoying the process together. It didn't take us long to sign up to our first marathon (Glencoe, in at the deep end) and that was the start of it. After the marathon, I had a light injury that prevented me running. At roughly the same time, a friend challenged me to swim 20 lengths - a challenge a considered laughably easy so jumped in the pool. Turned out swimming was good for my injured knee. I think you can how this one ends. I've spent the last two years doing various triathlons, running and cycling races. I've also had great days out in the hills running with my pals, brilliant weekends away bike packing, and just generally enjoyed being fitter in my daily life. What I do next, I'm not sure yet, but sport has and always will be a big part of my life - whether that be on my own for fitness, or with friends for social enjoyment and a spot of light competition.

No qualms with SIS, they are - in my mind - the 'standard'. Recently, due to it's handy location, I've been buying at Decathlon and just grabbing their own brand. They're not bad. Only one I don't really like are Maurtens because they're a bit chewy for a liquid.
