I highly recommend doing Pre-Orders
This is my debut book. I have my launch party on October 25. I started taking pre-orders August 1st and to date, I have sold 60 copies. I have marketed like crazy. I have marketed them as first edition hardcover copies, limited number, pre-orders get a personalized signed copy, and once the hardcover are gone there will be no more because all future edition will be paperbacks. I have marketed them as collectors items to be passed down and shared. This has helped build momentum. I took so much advice from Harleigh and put it into action and it worked. Thanks Harleigh. My website is layneslittlelibrary.com if anyone wants to check out for ideas. I have a Facebook page and and Instagram page that I have used to also market.

@Alton Conn I did everything myself except illustratrations. I don't have anything on Amazon. I had them printed at Mixam.com. I posted on Facebook and Instagram. Post to build excitement and push about the limited edition first edition. I set up the website for preorders. Everyone talked to friends and family, everyone I met. I kept a list everyone paid for their books in advance to secure their copy. I did a lot of what Harleigh talks about on her YouTube channel.
Seeking Guidance & Illustration Support
Hi Harleigh and community 💕 My name is Dawn Walton, and together with my husband David, we’re building a children’s project and book series called It’s a Kidzz World — a creative, inclusive platform designed to help children on and off the autism spectrum feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Our first book, Miss Piglee Wiglee Finds Her Courage, is a sensory-friendly story about facing fears, embracing differences, and finding bravery one small step at a time. The story is deeply personal to me — I’m both autistic and ADHD, and I’ve always believed stories can build bridges of understanding for neurodiverse kids. Right now, we’re at a pivotal moment. We’ve completed the manuscript and have one concept picture that captures part of what we want — but we need help turning it into the finished illustrations. Our goal is to release the book before the holiday season is in full swing. We would be so grateful for any feedback or guidance on our current concept image (we can upload it here), and for recommendations of illustrators — especially those who love working with neurodiverse creators or might be open to a modest-budget or collaborative project. This book is just the beginning of several series we’re developing under It’s a Kidzz World, each designed to promote kindness, inclusivity, and emotional growth. Getting Miss Piglee Wiglee Finds Her Courage across the finish line would mean the world to us — and to the children it’s meant to reach. Thank you, Harleigh, for the wonderful community you’ve created, and thank you all for any help, direction, or encouragement you can offer. 🌈 With gratitude, Dawn & David Walton It’s a Kidzz World™ — Every Child is a Gift

Welcome to the group.
BOOK TRAILERS
Hi guys, Do book trailers still work in marketing? I've asked this question in some other groups, but some said they do and some said they don''t. All I know is that I haven't seen one in a long time!

This is what aim found when I did some research. Jane Friedman is good look at her stuff. Book trailers still “work” when they’re treated as short social ads and content to distribute, not as a one-off cinematic piece. If you don’t have a plan to cut, caption, place, and promote the video, your time is usually better spent on email, retailer pages, and creator-driven social video.
