[NEW Video] Scams Every Children’s Book Author Needs to Watch Out For
Self-publishing children's books has opened up so many amazing opportunities for authors... But unfortunately, not every opportunity is what it seems! In this new YouTube video, I talk about some important things every children's book author should be aware of before spending money, signing agreements, or moving forward with certain opportunities. Whether you're publishing your first children's book or you've been doing this for years, I think this is a conversation worth having! I'd love to hear from you in the comments: Have you ever encountered something in the publishing world that seemed too good to be true? 👇

Words that look wrong to me!
So something to laugh about. Sometimes I'm writing and all of a sudden a word looks wrong to me. I think I've spelled it wrong. But when I think about it or look it up or ask my husband, I discover I've written it correctly! Does that ever happen to you? What words do you have the most difficulty with? "Their" is one I always think I've spelled it wrong. I also have a list of words I consistently misspell. Among is my most difficult word. For the reason of being Canadian and using the british spelling of words, I always want to add a U to it; it would then be spelled amoung. Which my wonderful husband always tells me is wrong. I also add extra e's to the end of some words. This goes back to my French heritage. It usually only happens when I'm using pen and paper, not very often when typing because the flow isn't there.

This happens to me all the time!
A NEW KIND OF SCAM?
Hi everybody. I just checked my new Facebook page for the day and found a possible scam. I've approached by many scammers before, but they've all approached me via email. This one called themselves an Unbook Club. I googled this and there are many Unbook Clubs around the country where you read whatever you want, whenever you want, then discuss it. Then I asked Google if there were any online Unbook Clubs originating from Alexandria, Virginia. My answer was vague and only knew about the unbook clubs in the Alexandria Library System, but they said it's possible since these are popping up everywhere. They did write a very nice letter, like most scammers do, but said that they just came across my book and were very impressed. Huh? Which book did they come across? Even though I have these books listed in my new group with the Amazon links to each, they never gave me the title. They also said they were curating titles for their July 10th Spotlight and would like to include mine. They also gave me their email address so I could reply to them. They didn't give me a contact name. I'm including a screen shot so you guys can see their page. There picture alone sends up red flags. Maybe I'm wrong about this group. Maybe I'm wrong about this group. What does everyone think? Should I take a chance and let them feature one of my books? Should I treat this like any other book scammer and block them? Is this just a new way of scamming us?

@Harleigh Manske Neither did I, Harliegh. That's one reason I Googled it. These unhook clubs are popping up all over the country. You don't read a particular book like you do in a regular book club. You read whatever you want to and discuss that.

@Harleigh Manske Google gave me quite an education yesterday!
How My Brand Storytelling Connects Across Books, Journals, and Products
I know this is more of a product/brand post, but I wanted to share this because it connects to the larger storytelling work I’m building through Kismet Wonders and my books. I created a short visual reel for my Everything She Survived Became Art Tee, and the theme is centered around a woman entering an art gallery and becoming part of the artwork herself. A lot of my creative work explores healing, identity, self-love, and becoming — whether that’s through books, journals, children’s stories, or wearable art. This tee felt like another way to tell that story visually. I’m using June to be more intentional about marketing both my website and my books, so this is one of the product storytelling pieces I’m testing. Website: kismetwonders.store
