My First DIY Tower Grow...
Hey folks! I've been away for awhile, off-grid, moving, rebuilding, etc. Been missing this group this is one of my favorites! I finally took a some time to go thru some photos and make a little recap of my very first tower grow earlier this year! I decided to go the DIY route, and I designed and built everything myself. This a prototype test run that was Largely built off of Chad's inspiring teachings and experiences!! So Thank you so much @Chad Miner for all you do! Huge shoot out to you man! I'm not sure I would have pulled this off at all with out your wisdom, support, and encouragement! "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants" - Isaac Newton

@Gillian El Deeb I'm sure you can, just stick with it, and always remember that learning is growing too! So grow your skills and experience, and the plants will surely follow!
HELP please!
SOH Classmates, in your opinion, would this work for a first tower garden for a newbie? I can't afford @Chad Miner 's tower garden yet. But I really want to start growing soon after I move in to the new apartment! With lights, nutrients, pH up and down, rock wool, peroxide, and a par meter, even this is gonna be quite spendy...I already have the pH/EC tester and the par meter has been ordered. I have the GH Flora Grow Series in my cart (although I'm not sure it is what I should be using with my hard water @Chad Miner .) I'm also looking for the rock wool, peroxide, pH up and down, and the Barrina lights...I have everything except the rockwool and my pretax total is $600.😳
HELP please!

@Beth E thats correct, it doesn't replace your shower head, it just screws into it. And you use a shower head that has a hose and then you can use the hose to fill buckets and what not. This particular filter is just a basic model, it will help to remove chlorine. and some other stuff too including some of the minerals and sediments that make hard water. At my house I've noticed that I don't get as much of the water spots from misting the plants, or on the shower fixtures, etc. And that's a good indicator that it is actually softening the water a little bit and removing chlorine. Of course you can certainly spend just a little more money to for a more advance model, that has extra filtration layers, and those can be more focused on treating hard water.

Oh and the hair!! I can really notice a big difference in my beard after installing these, lol. So yes I would say I've been happy with the softening results! And if I can feel a difference I'm sure my plants can too!
Thoughts on using copper to keep algae out?
Anyone using copper algaecide or some kind of ionizing copper for algae? Thoughts? Opinions?

@Beth E peroxide is more for treating/prevention of bacterial infections like root rot, which can be caused by hotter water temps. So for clarity….Keep the water temp below 80 and that helps prevent bacteria,(treat with h.peroxide for bacteria) ….and keep the light out of the water and that helps prevent algae(which is a plant and not a bacteria) hope that helps shed some light 💡

@Beth E thats a really great question! I’ll take a look and see what I think. In the mean time, Can you do me a favor? since this is a really great question and I want @Chad Miner input too. Can you copy and paste that question into a new post for us? That way it starts a new conversation thread and makes it easier for everyone to keep up 🙂
We've moved to a cottage in the woods
And we're nearly back in TG biz. And we gained a second tower. We documented everything from final harvest at our old house to complete set up in our new place. What happened in-between was a bit unexpected. We acquired a 2nd tower (a complete TG Flex + an 8 pot extension + the TG light kit + a TG dolly for $350 from a FB Marketplace ad. With a few hours of elbow grease it cleaned up beautifully). Yesterday we installed our 1st 3 plants with more seedlings to come.

The armadillo though! I remember that guy! Lol 😂 ….. got me again 🤣
Can you spot the tower garden?
This was a basil/mint/mustard green tower I grew from clones this summer. I couldn't help but notice that the tower garden itself seems to have vanished into a pillar of green....
