TYDE - A free new sample player for you on my new store
My inspiration store is back online: https://store.alexpfeffer.com There's a new sample player on it called TYDE. I built it from scratch to play my libraries, and it's free. So is Glass Particles, the library that comes with it - glass-like sounds, percussive patches, pads and textures. Everything is Windows only for now. I'd like to put the store through a stress test before I lean on it properly. Grab the free sample player and Glass Particles, run them, and tell me what goes wrong. Store, player and download flow are all brand new, so I'd rather hear about it from you than find out later. To get them: enter your email on the store page, confirm the mail you get back, and you'll land on a page with two downloads - TYDE and Glass Particles. Anything broken, odd or confusing, post it here. Cheerio, Alex

I did some testing and played around a bit. All works fine. I tested Standalone as well in Cubase. All FX Chain and Main buttons work fine :) I noticed you can go up and down in the library with the arrow keys, but it didn't change the presets. Don't know if that should work or not. Hope thats helpful! Sounds are cool!
Free Music Theory Video Game for you
For as long as I can remember, I've had a dream of building a fun way to help people understand music theory. Many years ago, I started creating a music theory world inside Minecraft. I have no idea how many hours went into that world, and I never really finished it. Now, many years later, I've finally made MusiCraft happen as its own little game. It's still in early access, but it's getting there. No sign up needed. Just play it free in your browser and let me know what you think 🙌 https://musicraft.alexpfeffer.com/

Track Feedback: Moving Forward Trailer
Having just finished the Trailblazer 1 Course, I thought I'd put together everything I've learned so far into a new track. https://on.soundcloud.com/DdMMYnjrgexUi7UEsE It's a simple theme with a straightforward structure. I would really appreciate your feedback—let me know if I'm heading in the right direction. Thanks a lot! 😁

@Jason Hou Yeah, totally agree with you. I definitely need to be more aware of edit points in general. I'm actually going to go check out the waveforms of some of the reference tracks I loaded up to see what that looks like visually. That's a really good point, thanks!

@Jason Hou Appreciate it, thank you for your input & help :)
What DAW are you folks using for film scoring?
I've personally tried to learn Ableton over the past year and I find it as unintuitive as any piece of software I've ever used. I play live as well as craft midi. What DAWs have you had success with?

I started with Studio One last year Summer and switched to Cubase Pro 15 January this year. I like both, but for my taste, Cubase fits more right now.
Issues possibly with Kontakt and cubase?
A while back in June cubase (latest update) kept crashing my computer. I reached out to steinberg and he said that it sounding like it was a computer issue. It was a dell optiplex 7010 64gb 2tb. Not terribly old. And i was using the same template i have been using for months, so no change. So after ordering a new computer, dell latest 64g 2tb ect 1250 Ai powered desktop, I received another email from steinberg saying their systems were down and it took to respond again and he believed it was kontakt (latest update). Well yesterday my new computer crashed several times. Has anyone else had this issue? Both cubase and kontakt have had updates since then. I also use a lot of sample libraries from opus. But that also has had updates. Also after the crashes yesterday the cubase window saying a crash log was created didn't show up.

Hi Ryan, i had some similar issues... and my pc is rather new.. as Alex mentioned, if you use plugins which are in your template or start a session where its not updated, it can cause some issues... in my case, Waves plugin caused crashes in my template after some time. i disabled VST2 completely and deleted also the blacklisted plugins form cubase. Since then no problem. For Kontakt, maybe check if you have multicore processing on in cubase, if so turn it of as cubase handles the multiprocessing part. Hope that helps!
