USA leather bomber jacket
I bought this quilted leather bomber jacket at a consignment store in Princeton, NJ, this past Saturday. It’s far flashier than my other leather jackets, but it fit me perfectly. I can’t wait to show it off. It was $125 and had been well-cared for. I did have to carefully rip the seams off of two Air Force patches to detach them from the front. (Respect to the Air Force, but I was Army.) I did read the Wikipedia article about the 47th Flying Training Wing out of Laughlin AFB in Texas. I found a Goodwill receipt from Utah in an inside pocket. I love that this jacket has been all across the country

🍂 September Theme: Fall Style Mastery 🍂
Gentlemen, Fall is here—and this is one of the best seasons for men’s style. You’ve got cooler weather, which means you can finally layer without sweating through your shirt. You’ve got rich textures like tweed, flannel, and corduroy that add depth to your outfits. And you’ve got boots—arguably the most masculine footwear a man can own. This month we’re focusing on one thing: mastering Fall style. Here’s where I want you to dial in: 1. Layering without bulk – Jackets, sweaters, shirts. Done right, you look sharp. Done wrong, you look sloppy. 2. The right pair of boots – Not sneakers, not loafers. Boots. They make a statement. 3. Seasonal colors & fabrics – Earth tones, heavier weaves, and clothes that look like they belong in Fall—not Summer leftovers. 4. Smart upgrades – A scarf, a better jacket, maybe just swapping out those worn-out shoes. Small changes, big impact. 👉 Your action: Share one Fall upgrade you’re making this month. It can be a piece of clothing, a style habit, or even just committing to putting more effort into your look. This theme is going to guide our discussions, tips, and challenges all September long. Let’s make sure when October rolls in, you’re not just “dressed for the weather”—you’re leading with style.

I was thrilled that Ralph Lauren had my favorite merino wool turtleneck back in stock for the fall. So I bought two more colors (black and olive) to add to my navy one. I can't wait until it cools off a bit more so that I can layer them with a nice textured wool blazer
What’s one piece of advice you’d give young men stepping into adulthood?
Hey fellas, I’m 18 and starting to take life seriously—working full-time, training consistently, investing in myself, and building habits that’ll shape who I become. I know I don’t have it all figured out, so I’d love to hear from some of you who’ve got a bit more life under your belt. What’s something you wish you knew at 18? Whether it’s about finances, relationships, fitness, mindset, discipline—whatever. I’m here to listen and learn.

I wish that the 18-year-old me knew how to balance macronutrients — fats, carbs, proteins. All through my late teens, early 20s, and even my 30s; everything I ate was so carb heavy. Even in the Army, it was carbs and not enough protein. That was mostly because carbs were cheap, and no one around me knew any better. I exercised. I lifted weights. But I never was able to consistently add and maintain lean muscle until my 40s when I visited a nutritionist who helped me achieve that balance. I will be forever grateful to that nutritionist and how she helped me to finally make steady progress toward my fitness goals.

My workday is greatly improved when I can walk for a mile or two outdoors during lunch. But on days like today, with temps in the high 80s and blazing sun, I do rely on a Thomson Tee so that my outer layer isn’t soaked with sweat. The tee does feel a little damp after (and it can feel a little bulkier than a normal undershirt), but sitting in front of a fan in my office for 30-40 minutes after my walk, and I’m back to normal. I also don’t have to worry about sweat oils or deodorant staining that outer shirt.

Gents, let’s get real—style starts with the man wearing the clothes. You don’t need six-pack abs or a gym membership. But when you take care of your body? The clothes fit better. You stand taller. You carry yourself with more presence—and that changes everything. Fitness isn’t about vanity—it’s about showing up as your best self. 👊 What’s one small win this week? A walk, a workout, skipping junk food? Drop it below. 📸 Bonus: Post a pic of today’s outfit. Let’s see how your effort and energy are showing up in your style. Strong body. Sharper style. Better man.#FitnessFriday #StyleStartsWithin #RMRS

My win this week was that I actually made it to the gym on a Friday. My gym closes an hour early on Fridays, and after a day’s work, it is far too easy to waste time after dinner until it is “too late” to go to the gym. I got in about 20 minutes punching and kicking the heavy bag to warm up, and then it was leg day — belt squats and leg press mainly. Now I can go into the weekend without worrying about making up my missed workout.
