SOTD: London by Burberry 10/06/2026
London was launched back in 2006, created by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu, a scent that's firmly rooted in the woody‑spicy‑aromatic family. It's an enjoyable fragrance, said to have been designed to capture the character of the city itself: It's warm, structured & slightly smoky. It came out at a time when “woody spicy” was king, and unlike many modern releases that chase trends, this one has a timeless qruality. Nothing flashy, nothing sweet, just solid, well‑built fragrance DNA. It’s not a clone, not a cheap copy, and not trying to be anything other than exactly what it is: a proper, grown‑up, designer fragrance that was made to last, and honestly, it’s aged better than most from that era. With a bright opening, the zesty bergamot cuts straight into sharp, spicy cinnamon & black pepper. The lavender adds a clean, herbal edge, stops it from being a spice bomb. At its core, cedarwood takes centre stage, the dry, pencil‑shavings mix well with saffron to bring that rich, golden, slightly metallic/spiced warmth. Mimosa adds soft, powdery, floral depth without being sweet. At its base, a dry tobacco leaf, mixes with an earthy patchouli. Then a sweet‑resinous Opoponax gives that warm, balsamicb vibe which is paired with a clean musk to anchor it. Performance here is ok, nothing beastly though. I get about 4 hours on skin, it projects well for the first 60 to 90m. Let it get on your clothes and it will linger all day long. It's still a descent scent,, considering it's age. It is 100% autumn/winter, night‑time, smart‑casual to formal office, dinners, dates, weddings, or anytime you want to smell sharp, trustworthy, and well‑dressed. If you’re into rich, dry, woody scents with real depth and zero gimmicks, this is exactly the kind of thing you’ll appreciate. My Rating 6.5/10 Scent 2 Longevity 2 Sillage 1.5 Y/N 1

Own it/like it.
Armaf Odyssey Aqua
Wore my sample of this one yesterday and my overall reaction was pretty simple: it's nice. Fresh, clean, easy to wear, and inoffensive. I got the citrus and aquatic freshness up top, and it stayed in that general lane for most of the wear. Nothing jumped out at me as particularly unique, and it didn't really take any unexpected turns on my skin. For those familiar with Invictus Platinum, I can definitely see the influence. That's not necessarily a criticism. Not every fragrance needs to be a journey. Sometimes a fragrance just smells pleasant and does its job. For me, Odyssey Aqua falls into that category. It never smelled bad, but it never gave me one of those moments where I stopped and thought, "Now that's interesting." If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be: pleasant. Not a regret. Just a solid, easy wear.

Afnan Supremacy Collector’s Edition
Wearing a sample of Afnan Supremacy Collector’s Edition today. This is in the Aventus style DNA, originally inspired by Creed Aventus. However, instead of it reminding me of Aventus, it immediately reminded me of Club de Nuit Intense Man. The difference is how it behaves on skin. With CDNIM, I’ve always struggled with the opening. It comes across very harsh to me and I never really enjoyed that first stage. What it transitioned into came across as wet mildewed wood. However, the base, which doesn't come until hours and hours later on my skin is absolutely beautiful and remained that way through the night and into the morning as a slightly sweet, musky, woody, skin scent. Supremacy has been much easier from the start. It smells smoother and more balanced right away, without that sharp opening I get from CDNIM. So far it has stayed pretty linear, fresh citrus, fruity-smoky Aventus-style, and a steady drydown. I have a sense that this isn't going to change much other than to lighten, but we shall see. While I am not an Aventus fan, I think I struggle a bit with the whole, what's wrong with you? Everyone loves Aventus! I don’t think I dislike this style of fragrance, but where CDNIM tried to ruin the whole story, Supremacy gives me the same story line, just in a way that is way easier to wear.

SOTD: Paraiso Perdido by HOP ATELIER
Paraíso Perdido is one of those fragrances that instantly transports me to a tropical paradise. Right from the opening, I get a rich mix of juicy pineapple, passion fruit, and rum that smells natural, vibrant, and full of life rather than overly sweet or synthetic. The fruits have a lush, slightly overripe quality that gives the fragrance depth and character. As it develops, the tropical notes remain front and center while the scent becomes smoother and more refined. What makes this release even more interesting is that perfumer Michael Payne spent a significant part of his early fragrance journey in the ** Brotherhood of Scent** community, where he was actively learning, refining, and honing his craft before launching his own creations. That passion and dedication really show in the finished product. Performance is very good on my skin with solid longevity and strong projection during the first few hours. It shines in warm weather, where the tropical fruits and boozy nuances really come alive. For me, Paraíso Perdido feels like a true niche fragrance—creative, tropical, and full of personality. If you enjoy realistic fruit notes, a touch of rum, and fragrances that stand apart from the crowd, this is absolutely worth getting your nose on. What would you consider this in terms of caliber of fragrance. Am I wrong to assume it’s on board with the likes of a Montagne?
