Hi :)
Hi I'm Amy, from NSW in Australia. I'm starting to release a podcast after a few years of focusing on parenting over business. But it's time to revive my business. My podcast is called: 3P Conversations: Discover Your Preferences. 3P's are Patterns, Profiles, and Perspectives. I love models, frameworks, philosophies and so much to help us understand our own preferences, which then makes it simpler to create a life we love. Looking to better understand the tech choices for podcasting. :) Especially the platform to host the podcast. Open to suggestions/recommendations.

I'm so glad to have you here with us. I'm always happy to discuss finding the best tech choices for launching your podcast. I'm a huge fan of Descript for editing and Buzzsprout for publishing. I've written a few posts about it them that I've linked in this comment.
How to repurpose content
I have just published the first of three guides explaining exactly how to repurpose podcast content into short form vertical videos. This step-by-step guide will make the process easy to follow. In the following days and weeks, I will be publishing more step-by-step guides to produce different styles of repurposed videos. This style is called the picture-in-picture, and is an effective way to show 16:9 video on a 9:16 screen. Premium members can access this content in the Classroom tab right now!

Thank You Michael Campbell
Hi Everyone, I had a great session with @Michael Campbell tonight. I consider him to be my Podcast Coach. Based upon his recommendation I signed up for Descript because I needed a simple and effective way to edit and add music to my podcast. I don’t have a lot of time and the key is consistency and laying the foundation and investing in yourself to learn new things. True story years ago when I had a talkshow and radio show I was paying people to add my intro and outro and b roll. I was paying per episode and probably created well over 150 shows including summits. A lot of money I spent to do it. Some people took advantage of me and was trying to charge me $75 per episode up to an hour. Some charged less. I even asked some to educate me on how to do it. There was always an excuse and I fired them. Had they assisted me there were other projects they could have worked on and been paid.. We have to be careful how we treat others because you never know when you will need assistance. I spent thirty minutes tonight with Micheal and he walked me through how to add music and edit my text. I am very appreciative. After the 30 min session ended I recorded a new episode in Descript and edited and added music. Will review it again tomorrow and then release it for distribution. The music is royalty free so no copyright violation. So glad I found this group because I made up my mind podcasting is my future. With Descript I can record using the software, create graphics , add music and a whole lot more. There is a free account but I upgraded to the paid account. I am so excited to know how to edit and add music. I already have a plan to enhance my podcast and find sponsors. I am making steady process and always willing to jump in to explore what I need an how to get there. Sometimes it’s small steps. Michael is a huge support and i am ecstatic that we have this wonderful group for support. If you want to elevate your podcast or start one now is the time. 😆

Ways to Monetize Your Podcast
There are three “lanes” for earning money from a podcast, and the smartest move is usually to start with the lanes that don’t require a huge audience. Lane 1: Get paid by platforms (built-in monetization) - Spotify Partner Program (ads + Premium video revenue where available): Spotify recently lowered eligibility to 3 published episodes, 1,000 engaged audience members (last 30 days), and 2,000 hours consumed (last 30 days) (in eligible markets). - Spotify Subscriptions: Requires hosting on Spotify for Creators, 2 published episodes, and 100 Spotify listeners in the last 60 days (plus availability in your region). - Apple Podcasts Subscriptions: You can sell paid subscriptions, but you need to join the Apple Podcasters Program (annual fee shown as $19.99 USD in the U.S.). - YouTube (video version of your podcast): YPP has a “starter” threshold (fan funding + some features) at 500 subs + 3 uploads/90 days + 3,000 watch hours (12 months) (or 3M Shorts views/90 days). Full ad revenue share unlocks at 1,000 subs + 4,000 watch hours (or 10M Shorts views/90 days). Lane 2: Sponsors + ads (classic podcast money) - Host-read sponsorships (you personally read the ad) usually pay by CPM (cost per 1,000 downloads). Many industry benchmarks put common ranges around $20–$25 CPM pre-roll and ~$25 CPM mid-roll, with variation by niche and show size.  Quick math example (mid-roll):If you average 1,000 downloads/episode and sell 1 mid-roll at $25 CPM, that’s $25 per episode. If it’s 5,000 downloads, that’s 5 × $25 = $125 per episode. Reality check: sponsorships usually become easier when you have consistent downloads per episode and a clear audience niche. Lane 3: You sell something (fastest for smaller shows) This is the lane most newer podcasters can monetize right now, even with a small audience: - Affiliate links (Amazon, books, tools, teas, journals, etc.) - Your own digital products (printables, journals, guided audio, mini guides) - Coaching / services (1:1, workshops, consulting) - Membership/community (bonus episodes, lives, Q&A, private feed) - Speaking + events (virtual or local)

I would add two more non-traditional routes to making fmoney podcasting. 1. Commissioned episodes This is kinda like a sponsorship, but with more control given to the sponsor. I did an episode with a research centre at my university and they paid me for it. As long as you disclose the sponsorship, it can be a great way to earn money. Non-profits have advertising budgets. Sometimes commissioning an episode about them and their team will align with your values. 1. Awards This is also a major way authors make money. Keep an eye out for podcasting awards, as well as awards for things like "life stories" or non-fiction.
