Build Trust on Google Without Putting Yourself Out There
Do you hate putting yourself out there, but still want your business to stand out on Google? I know I did for several years before I started showing my face on YouTube. Below is one of my early YouTube thumbnails, where i didn't want my face seen. Me as a cartoon character, which really confused my visitors. But the thing is I'm not alone. A client recently told me: “I don’t like being visible. I prefer to stay in the background.” It's totally understandable. But here’s the problem: when I looked at his Google Business Profile: - He had very few team photos - Mostly stock imagery - Little real-world proof This makes it tough for customers (and Google) to trust the business. So, what did we do? We didn’t turn him into a social media influencer. Instead, we: - Added real installation photos - Showed the team at work - Created simple case study posts - Encouraged review photos from customers No ‘look at me’ content. Just proof. The lesson: Google rewards real businesses doing real work. - Stock photos don’t build trust. - Generic posts don’t build authority. - Real people, real projects, and real reviews build prominence, and prominence drives rankings. You don’t need to be loud. You just need to be visible in the right way.

New AI Support from Google: What Every Business Owner Needs to Know
Hi everyone! Just wanted to share a quick success story in case it helps others. A recent client had issues with his Google Business Profile It was suspended, and he was having no luck with the usual support channels. Then he tried the new AI chatbot in the GBP Help Center—and it worked wonders! - The AI assistant gave him a direct appeal link. - He uploaded my suggested documents (I recently showed in a video). - The next day, He got an email saying his profile was reinstated! - Google says it can take up to 5 days to be fully active. If you’re struggling with a suspended profile, definitely give the new AI chatbot a try. It’s easy, fast, and actually works. Let me know if you have questions of how it works, happy to help!

@Zane Shawn Clements I actually used this 2 weeks ago and it was awesome! Although the outcome didn't get the result, I found it useful as it allowed us another opportunity to submit our appeal. Great share! Thank you
Google Business Profile Question (This One Comes Up A LOT!)
I get asked this regularly: 👉 Does the order of secondary categories affect rankings? For example, does category #2 carry more weight than #5? Here’s my honest answer ✅ The only category order that truly matters is your PRIMARY category. ❌ I’ve never seen credible evidence that the order of secondary categories has any impact on rankings. ❌ Adding more secondary categories doesn’t magically improve visibility either. Where categories can hurt you is when they’re inaccurate. If you add categories that don’t genuinely describe your business, you risk: - Confusing users - Increasing poor engagement signals - Creating trust issues with Google And that’s where rankings can slide My rule of thumb: ➡️ Be precise➡️ Be honest➡️ Be customer-first Quality always beats quantity. How many secondary categories are you currently using on your GBP?

Another great post. Thank you @Zane Shawn Clements I honestly thought adding more secondary categories is the way to go. On one GBP I have 1 primary and 3 secondary. Some of those don't fully describe what the business does. From the sounds of it, that might not be the way to go .
The Big Changes of 2025
Here is a list of the changes that stood out last year. Comment below on what yours were. Google introduced AI Mode, and if you want more sales from Maps, you can't just think about rankings—now, your business has to actually show up in those AI answers, or you miss out. Google recently scrapped the Q&A section, and that means you can't rely on random questions or answers showing up for customers—so if Google's AI doesn't get your info right, you risk losing leads before you even get a shot. Vicinity is still a thing. Look, Google cares a LOT more about how close you are to someone searching—and if you're even a little too far, you basically get ignored. So if you're wondering why local leads went quiet, that's a big reason why. Now for something new: If you've been posting on social media, Google's now actually showing those posts on your Profile, which means, if you're sharing offers, news, or testimonials, it could give you a rankings boost you can finally see. And finally if you picked up a weird call asking about your prices, that was actually Google, not a scam. You want to give clear, up-to-date info, because what you say can decide if Google's AI recommends your business to real customers searching near you. What did you notice in 2025?

Thank you @Zane Shawn Clements for sharing your insights. One of the things I noticed is how inconstintent Google can be where it behaves differently for different profiles. Just when you think you've got it worked out and that it will do a certain thing because of a particular setting it changes. I also noticed some reveiws being held back by Google. I had to contact support for them to release the reviews.

@Zane Shawn Clements you're right. Sometimes when I've clicked that the instructions were to add internal photos which we did. Then we get the same thing. When we click it again it says to just add photos and so we continue to get the same result. Do you think it's best to reach out to Google support?
