10€ revenue per thousand views realistic?
Hi all, I'm thinking about starting a YouTube Channel on politics, but I'm wondering if I could live from it (which would be cool, as you can work from wherever :). Now I'm thinking what earnings per thousand viewers would be realistic? Here's an estimation I came up with: To begin with, we need to keep in mind a view is someone who watches at least 30 seconds. - Have the youtube videos also distributed to other platforms (twitter, insta, facebook, telegram, tiktok) to increase reach. - run Youtube Ads @ 1€ per thousand views - run sponsorship deals or affiliate marketing @ 5€ per thousand views - ask for donations in comments / description of video @ 5€ per thousand views - offer a "plus-membership" to people in the videos. This would be a community and bonus content. To boost signup rates, first month would be free and signing up free would unlock a lot of bonus content that is not necessarily limited to politics. To further boost signup rates, it could also contain other popular content like building muscle or losing weight or general wellbeing startegies. Not a full product but an "essential version" of it, so much more than a free video or article. From second month onward, minimum price would be 2€ per month (like new york times pricing model), but people could give more. Beyond 10€ per month, the membership would be more valuable (monthly stream with me, direct access to ask me questions, etc.). If 0.1% of viewers get the membership and stay for 10 months, and average monthly contribution is 4€ this yields 40€ per thousand views. Overall, to be conservative, I estimate around 10€ earnings per thousand views. Is this realistic? Or should the estimation be subscriber, not viewer based?
