Grounding. I try and identify 3x things I can HEAR, 3x things I can FEEL, 3x things I can SEE. It *sometimes* brings me back down to earth. One of the things I can feel is usually deep breathing so that may also help.
Self Sabotage 😭 😭 😭
Self Sabotage Sucks!! I know as well as anyone how detrimental it can be to both our performance and overall enjoyment in the game! Who is ready to eliminate Self Sabotage and start implementing practical, purposeful and playful strategies to help build Mental Mastery?

For what it's worth, I was fuming because 1x relatively simple shot ended up costing me 2.5 strokes. I did, however, manage to calm down by the time I made it to the next tee and from memory shot 1 over on the back which was a good showing. So it wasn't self sabotage. It was just in the moment frustration.
How do you respond to mistakes & moments of feeling like 💩

Oh man I suck at this. By far the weakest part of my game. I could write a book in how to blow up one hole and then successfully drag that explosion to the next 3 or 4 holes. To go back to your analogy, I have gotten much better at cleaning my shoe and moving on. BUT, there is a BUT. After I clean my shoe, I then immediately step in 💩 the very next step! Ok no biggie, just clean the shoe again and move on. Next step? Yeah step in it again. That third step is when I lose it. 3x terrible shots / steps in a row I can't manage. That's when negative talk comes in and that can take a while to dissipate. Hey at least I'm pretty good at identifying it and know what the rough triggers are!!
Line or No Line when Putting??
This is a great video from Scottie talking about his putting process and not using a line on his ball to line up. There are 2 things in this process that I absolutely love- 1. His strong connection with where he wants the ball to enter the cup! This external focus point really helps to get away from trying to control the stroke or impact point. 2. He got away from using the line and stopped trying to be perfect!! Thoughts??

@James Glazier yeah I've read the "you dont think when tossing keys to someone" adage... and it's true, your brain just gets it. However a) I'm very analytical in general and especially when it gets to putting b) I find that under pressure having a system I can fall back on takes a lot of the pressure off. If I had to "just shoot" a big breaking slippery 30 footer in front of a small crowd in a pennants match I'm pretty sure I'd choke :D But being able to do my analysis, count the steps adjust for slope and speed, pick a line and line it up I know I can then just execute a simple stroke. Either I got the analysis right or i didnt, but the execution and stroke is a lot less stressful.
