Why AI Search is Overrated (New In Person Podcast Interview)
My latest in person podcast interview was a fun one! I had a blast being a guest on the Iowa Business Podcast where I break down: - Why AI search is overrated for most small businesses - Owned vs rented distribution - Why trust signals drive AI Search & LLM visibility - Video first content is the new foundation - Why packaging matters more than volume Be sure to drop a like/comment to help support their channel 🤝

Love the in person podcasts! Please get them to spell your name right in the youtube chapters though. AI would not have gotten that wrong, must have been a human 😅

Trying something different - AI for part-time founders, on YouTube
I have been turning over an idea for a while and decided to just start building it. I am setting up a YouTube channel showing how I actually use AI tools to run my social enterprise. Not theory. Just what I do day to day, from client comms to content to course delivery. The difference is who it's for. Most AI content assumes you have unlimited time and energy. This is aimed at people running a business alongside something else, whether that's long-term health conditions, caring responsibilities, or simply fewer hours in the day than most. No technical background needed. Starting from the very basics. It comes from my own experience. I run MHScot mostly solo, with limited capacity, and AI changed what's possible for me. Felt worth sharing that honestly rather than adding to the hustle noise. Very early days. Channel is set up, no videos yet. Curious whether anyone here has seen this angle done well, or has thoughts on what would be most useful to cover first.

A true story of AI‘s deteriorating effect on quality 👎
I have a client who I do email marketing for. An e-commerce business here in Germany. They used to have a freelance designer who helped with their marketing. Once the business owner became aware of Nano Banana he decided he does not need the designers services any longer. This has two effects: - He is saving costs, yes. - But the quality of his designs has noticeably suffered. And this is something I see a lot. With designs, with copy, probably with code coming next. A race to the bottom in terms of quality by using AI in an effort to reduce costs. Will it be worth it for the business? Hard to tell. Maybe we will see two kinds of businesses, one with low quality, somewhat exchangeable outputs. And then on the other hand premium brands with high quality human made content.

@Rafal Glaz Yes emphasis on the word properly. And how many people are not doing that? The whole testing thing sounds good in theory but in reality many things cannot but tested that easily. Let‘s take the image from this community attached as an example. You can make a 100 design variations with AI quickly but to measure the impact on desired results (let‘s say member retention and upsells) is not possible because there are other factors changing at all times and you cannot isolate the effect of the image.

@Ryan Doser I wish I could show the examples then we could all agree the quality suffered 😉 I explained about difficulties isolating for the effects of changes like this in replies above. The main point is this: there is an overwhelming amount of AI slop out there and my concern is that we are seing a regression in content quality. Yes, it is not fault of AI it is the fault of humans. But still it is happening.
