The time is nye…we are a few days away from Liam’s biggest tournament yet! Off to Salou near Barcelona next Thursday for the Endeka Cup. Some big team are going to be there, Girona, Valencia and….wait for it…Barcelona!! And they are in Liam’s group! They play them on Saturday, going to be an invaluable experience for the boys, especially for Liam in goals. We are definitely not writing his team off as they are playing at a very high standard at the moment, Bundesliga level actually. But, this will be a test and a challenge!! Been preparing Liam for the last few weeks, mentally and physically…mental strength and confidence are key factors in these challenging moments so I hope he makes himself proud and makes the most of the weekend. Hopefully you will find some useful training drills in the attached video. NB notes, always on your toes, take that extra step before diving to cover max area, dive onto shoulders with arms outstretched (Not on elbows, restricts arm stretch, when possible, attack the ball, dive in a forward motion for max strength of hands / wrists) We will keep you posted on his progress, especially the Barcelona game.

So today was the first team training session of 2026 and I was on fire! The session started off with 15 minutes of running 😭😅 After that I did a bit of training with the gk coach and then went in goal for a team drill where some of the saves I made were amazing, one in particular which was absolutely world class! One of the parents was watching as he was helping out and he was extremely impressed. He said I’m like a cat 🤣 He told me at the end of the session that I’m an amazing keeper and praise like that is always great to recieve! My handling was praised yet again by the gk coach, he is always so shocked when I hold onto some of the big diving saves that most would just parry away. My handling is definitely one of my best attributes. I can’t wait to get back into matches, we have the next round of the cup on Sunday which I’m very excited for, I’m not sure what the team is like as they are in the Bristol league so we haven’t played them before but I can imagine it will be a tough game. Hopefully we can get into the semis 🤞

Haven’t had a chance to break down all videos but he made these 2 saves in quick succession and it got better from there…have never seen a just turned 8 year old ever use his one hand to save like this!! Thk you Alisson Becker for giving Liam all the YouTube videos he’s been watching since he was 4…lol…1v1s he also nailed it! Showed so much bravery, the foundation of any successful GK! He took a while to warm up but in this 3rd game he really was the saviour for his team… To all GK out there, believe in yourselves but also realise that things don’t always go your way…but when they do and you get that feeling, you are a machine and are unstoppable!
