Sup everyone, I am Matt, and I live in Southern Oregon. I have been lifting since high school and gradually built my home gym over the past four years. I have shift more from the core lifts (bench, deadlift, squat, overhead press) to kettlebells and calisthenics (to save my joints in the long run even though I do miss the power rack) My goal right now is to stay strong so I am able to keep up with my two sons. Being a Peer Support Specialist in my professional life I like to encourage and empower people to live a healthy and productive life. Within this group I am hoping to do that while learning and engaging with other like minded people. Happy to be here!
Eliminate “Burnout”…
We’re all meatheads here, but the truth is no matter how much we enjoy training, eventually we’re gonna have our peaks and valleys with the level of enthusiasm we have towards it. And if left unattended, this can eventually lead to a level of burnout that makes you fall out of love with training all together. My remedy for this is simple… Have some other hobbies in conjunction with lifting! For me it’s archery, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and competition barbecue. Some may argue that having multiple loves takes from the MAXIMUM you can get from one, but I find that being passionate about all of these hobbies keeps me from getting TOO hyper focused on one hobby (which makes those natural ebbs and flows of enthusiasm seem less extreme)… With that said, for the sake of getting to know more about you, what are some of the additional hobbies you’ve got?? Let me know in the comments or replying to this email…

archery, jui jitsu, I also help coach my kid's wrestling team, golf, and hunting. Staying fit is a must for me not only to keep up with my two boys but also to keep me sharp mentally. One thing I learned over the years is that there is no such thing as a bad day of training. It's those days that you are at your worst where you benefit the most in the gym.

42 year old Army Veteran, I first started lifting in high school and got hooked. Now I primary used kettlebells and a stationary bike for cardio.
