Introduction
Hi everyone! My name is Markus, I’m 40 years old and I’m a goalkeeper from Belfast, Northern Ireland. For the past few years I’ve been playing for Glentoran Inclusion in the IFA Disability Leagues. The standard of 5-a-side football is incredibly high, and it’s been a fantastic environment to develop both as a player and as a person. Alongside playing, I coach and manage the Ards Rangers Under-15s, having recently taken on the role for the new season. Coaching is something I’m really passionate about, and I’m currently working towards my coaching badges with the aim of specialising in goalkeeping and helping develop the next generation of keepers. This season I’ve also made the move to Belfast City Inclusion. After achieving everything I set out to at Glentoran, I felt it was the right time for a new challenge, and I’m excited to see what the future holds with my new club. If I could offer one piece of advice to any goalkeeper, it would be this: your mentality is everything. You might go an entire match without being called into action, but in the final minute the opposition could get one chance. Staying switched on and focused throughout the game could be the difference between a win, a draw, or a defeat. Goalkeeping is as much a mental position as it is a physical one. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone in this community, sharing experiences, and continuing to improve both as a goalkeeper and as a coach. Best of luck with the new season, and I hope to get to know many of you along the way!

👋 Welcome to the J4K Goalkeeper Community!
Hi Keepers and Parents As you probably know, goalkeeping is a VERY LONELY position for both keepers and parents. If you are a parent who has no idea how to help your child, let the leading goalkeeper coaching school since 1998 hold you and your child by the hand. We have helped hundreds of keepers go pro or gain USA scholarships. For example, Adam Davies, who plays for Wales and was in the 2022 World Cup, is an ex-J4K student. This is exactly why J4K created this community—so you never have to do this alone again. There is absolutely nothing like this on the planet! To get started, please take two minutes to complete these two steps: 1️⃣ Introduce Yourself Below: Tell us your name, what country you’re from, and share ONE thing you or your child is struggling with right now (handling, positioning, or confidence). 2️⃣ Claim Your Free Asset: I have unlocked The Free Goalkeeper Confidence Blueprint completely for free to eliminate match-day anxiety before your next game. IMPORTANT: Because there are children in the community, we have ZERO tolerance for spam, bullying, or indirect selling. Accounts breaking these rules are reported instantly and banned. Concussion awareness
As an ex-goalkeeper I have faced several situations (that I can remember) where I face concussion or certainly potential concussion. But 20 years ago if you weren’t knocked unconscious and as long as you could see straight, carried on and rested up after the game. Nowadays it’s a big part of the FA’s safety in sport curriculum and quite rightly so. As many of you know concussion awareness is essential in any sport, because early recognition and appropriate management can prevent serious short and long term brain injuries. Players, coaches, parents, and officials should be able to identify common signs and symptoms such as headache, dizziness, confusion, balance problems, or memory loss and understand that any player suspected of having a concussion must be removed from play immediately and not return until medically assessed and cleared. Promoting concussion awareness creates a safer playing environment, protects player welfare, reduces the risk of further injury, and encourages a culture where health is prioritised over continuing to play. Ive attached a useful data sheet from the FA for you to read and use. one is a detailed explanation and the other is a single info sheet that can be kept pitchside for reference.

I remember I came out for a 1v1 and got knocked in the head, I felt physically okay and carried on. However that night all changed, was wobbly on my feet, slurred speech, felt sick and was definitely suffering from concussion. Unfortunately ended up in the emergency department that night but the team were good as I work there and got sorted quickly. I’m very stubborn and thankful it wasn’t a worse outcome but learnt my lesson any knock on the head is dangerous and get taken off as it’s not worth the risk. Managed to keep a clean sheet rest of the game and made a few saves after so stubborn me says it’s worth it, smart me I’m now like it wasn’t worth the risk and I got lucky on this occasion, being a nurse I should of known better but at the same time we hate dealing with our own medical needs.
Do People Actually Train Kids To Do This
I know it is part of the game but seriously is this really necessary. This was a clip from Saturdays Friendly and not even a Cup game let alone a Cup Final. Does anyone have any tips how to protect your keeper.

As a ref for the IFA I would call a foul on this especially being a GK myself, blocking or construction of goalkeepers movement is a foul in my eyes, unfortunately not all refs have the same outlook.
